So Naomi Osaka is safely through, but what do you know about the young tennis star?

Osaka, the US-raised daughter of a Japanese mother and a Haitian father, is the face of Tokyo 2020.

At every bus stop in Tokyo, the 23-year-old stares down from an advert, greeting passengers local and international. She is decked out in a neon pink jacket over black activewear.

The slogan is written half in English, half in Japanese. It is the word 'new', followed by a symbol that can be translated either as 'world' or 'generation'.

It works. Because Osaka, who renounced her US citizenship in 2019 in favour of her Japanese heritage, is bringing more than titles back to her homeland. She's bringing change.

How quiet rebel Naomi Osaka is changing Japan.

    Team GB

Some reaction from Team GB now after they were beaten by Germany in the women's hockey.

Captain Hollie Pearne-Webb said they need take a positive performance into tomorrow's game against South Africa:

"We'll go back, look at the stats and see that was a really dominant performance. In one way it's really disappointing because on balance of play, the points should have been ours.

    “Overall, it was really positive.

“Now we're into the tournament, game one's out of the way. We've got South Africa tomorrow and we need to take the confidence from the dominance we showed today and take that into tomorrow's game.

"There's a long way to go. After that, we can take a lot of confidence into every one of those games. We've had a bit of a comedown today already. We know we're still in this. It's a marathon not a sprint, so we're looking forward to tomorrow."
