Anna Kiesenhofer earned a shock gold medal in the women's road race earlier, but adding further to what was already a remarkable race was the fact Annemiek van Vleuten appeared to believe she had won when crossing the the finish line - Kiesenhofer's break came so early the Dutch rider did not know the Austrian was up ahead. Instead it was a silver medal for Van Vleuten.

He did it in the first match, quarter final and now he has made it in a semi-final that looked like a lost cause with 40 seconds to go, he's made it a massively clear win.

Zhao Shuai appeared to step out of bounds there - he did, and that reduces the deficit to two points.

But Shuai has the momentum and, despite some contention from the British team, Bradly Sinden trails 16-9 heading into the final round.

This is the most important match of this [Bradley Sinden] young man's life.

Great start from Great Britain's Bradly Sinden as he explodes into a 2-0 lead but Zhao Shuai gets a shot in to level. Sinden edges back ahead though and the 22-year-old holds a 6-5 advantage at the end of the first round.

It is China's Olympic champion Zhao Shuai in the semi-finals for Bradly Sinden. And should the Great Britain fighter come through this, he will face Uzbekistan's Ulugbek Rashitov.

Great Britain's Chelsie Giles is into the bronze medal match!

The 24-year-old comes through the repechage against Belgium's Charline Van Snick and now has a chance to medal in the women's 52kg competition.

Almost a victory lap now for Anna Kiesenhofer, little more than a kilometre to go as the lactic acid starts to kick in, but the adrenaline will be fuelling the Austrian home to the gold medal.

There is a scrap on for the remaining medals, however...

Great Britain's Chelsie Giles lost in the quarter-finals earlier but has another shot in the repechage now - if she beats Belgium's Charline Van Snick she will have a chance of a making the podium in the bronze medal match.
