    Well, what a day!

It feels like forever since Adam Peaty claimed that first GB gold in the pool.

Two more quickly followed as Tom Daley and Matty Lee were crowned champions in the synchronised 10m platform diving and 26 minutes later Tom Pidcock won the men's cross-country mountain biking.

There were also silver medals for Alex Yee in the triathlon and Lauren Williams in taekwondo. But the best bit? You can relive it all over again on Today at the Games at 19:30 BST on BBC One and with BBC Radio 5 Live's catch-up show from 21:00.

We'll be back later tonight to bring you all the action from Tokyo - where it will be early on Tuesday morning! - with the potential for more medals in the triathlon from 22:35.

'What an advert for taekwondo'published at 14:13 British Summer Time 26 July 2021

    Lutalo Muhammad
Two-time Olympic Taekwondo medallist on BBC TV

Trust me, there's a lifetime in one second in taekwondo, as I know pretty well.

But that's what makes the sport so exciting, so dynamic.

Even as someone who has been in this sport all my life, this Olympics - what an advertisement for taekwondo.

There have been so many victories in the last 10-20 seconds, it really shows you can't take your eyes off the TV screen for even a second.

    Lutalo Muhammad appreciation post!

TheSportsDean: Superb today. Very interesting, great explanation of the sport. I really enjoyed that.

Transitorydream: How amazing is Lutalo Muhammad on BBC Olympics. I hope he’ll become a lead commentator for future Olympics. Positive, calm, reassuring, kind, articulate. A pleasure to listen to and what an advert for martial arts (which I admit I know nothing about.)

Maple23: I know more about taekwondo now due to the calm, dulcet tones of Lutalo Muhammad as he explains the sport’s complexities

Lauren Williams said at the beginning of her interview there 'that's not enough'.

I want to correct her - it's more than enough.

She's come in to her first Olympic Games and she is being very humble in that interview - she had some serious injury problems all throughout this Olympic cycle. And very recent ones as well.

For her to even make it here, it's a massive achievement - and for her to push on into the Olympic final against her biggest rival and to be winning until the last 15 seconds, amazing.

Unbelievable scenes! I've never seen a gymnastics competition so close!

We are talking tiny margins - a step.

One tenth separating gold and silver.

It's just unbelievable how exciting that was.

It was great for Max to warm up for next week, I think he will be feeling really confident moving forward.

    'It's been absolutely crazy'published at 14:00 British Summer Time 26 July 2021

    Women's -67kg final

More from Lauren Williams speaking to BBC Sport: "I've not had the best prep at all, but that's not an excuse, I felt good today.

"I've had injuries and I came out here late, I had something at home where I had to come out later, which damaged my prep, but as soon as I got here, I hit the ground running and I was pretty confident going in to today.

"It's been absolutely crazy, insane, my first Olympic Games, a very good experience.

"A massive thank you to the National Lottery for getting me out here today - I wouldn't be here without you."

'I made a mistake and let it go'published at 13:55 British Summer Time 26 July 2021

    Women's -67kg final

Here is Lauren Williams after that silver medal: "It's not enough, I had her, 10 seconds, I just let it go... I made a mistake and let it go, it's on me.

"I went out there to win and tried my best but it didn't happen on the day. I am very happy with how I performed but it's a shame she got it. An Olympic silver medal is not bad, is it?"

    Women's -67kg final

    Lutalo Muhammad
Two-time Olympic Taekwondo medallist on BBC TV

I feel like I've been through an emotional rollercoaster in six minutes, watching that.

Great combat by Matea at the end, you have to give credit where credit is due and she has shown she has the heart of a champion.

To be able to fight back with 20 seconds to go and find that crucial crescent kick head shot - that's what gave her the Olympic title.

Lauren will come again and I was glad to see her with that wry smile at the end - she knows she gave it everything and I hope she knows what she has done today is very special. An Olympic silver medal at just 22 years of age.
