    Men's team final

Great Britain have stepped out into the arena for the gymnastics men's team final.

If you're not totally sure what that is, here are the basics.

There are four gymnasts in a team, with two-time Olympic champion Max Whitlock representing GB alongside Joe Fraser, James Hall and Giarnni Regini-Moran.

Three gymnasts from each team will compete on each of the six apparatus: floor, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars and horizontal bar. All the scores are added up and the team with the highest wins.

A medal for Great Britain might be a long shot, with the Russian Olympic Committee, China and Japan battling it out for gold. But with the way this Monday is going, you never know.

Deserved 1-0 lead by South Africa.

Great Britain did start to come back into it, we saw Lily Owsley make some really positive forward runs with pace and aggression which is what every Great Britain fan wants to see.

We just need them to pay with a little bit more width, little bit more patience maybe against Germany and really start to dominate the ball. We haven't had much of the ball in the first quarter.

There's plenty of time left in this game.

GB have been trying to drive at the top of the circle. I'd like to see a bit more width to stretch the South African press in the second quarter.

Great Britain's third gold medal winner, Thomas Pidcock, is the first Briton to win an Olympic medal of any kind in mountain biking. Britain's previous best finish was a fifth place by Liam Killen at Athens 2004.

Pidcock is also the youngest Olympic champion in mountain bike. He will celebrate his 22nd birthday on Friday and breaks the record set by Sweden's Jenny Rissveds at Rio 2016 by 79 days.

Well Sonia, here is how Tom is feeling after that gold medal ride, he was speaking to Ali Durden earlier about becoming an Olympic champion.

Great Britain's Tom Pidcock: "It's unbelievable really. I was keeping myself calm, telling myself I'm going to become an Olympian and now I'm an Olympic champion! It's incredible.

"Everyone works so hard for the Olympics."

Asked how long the Olympics have been his dream: "Not that long, since late last year that was the first time I did a World Cup. So it hasn't been a dream for that long, I can't imagine how it would feel to build up for four years to this event. A year was enough!"

I'm sure plenty of parents can relate to Tom Pidcock's mum, Sonia, who says getting information out of her 21-year-old son is a tricky business!

The Olympic gold medal-winning mountain biker has been contacting home “fairly regularly” while in Tokyo, but Sonia jokes she has been relying on television updates to know what he's been up to.

Speaking to 5 Live’s Naga Munchetty, Sonia said “being a son he’s not that communicative, we don’t get that many words”.

“We like to see him interviewed on telly so we can catch up with what he’s doing, and how he’s feeling!” she added.

Not the best start and not what we obviously wanted.

South Africa seem to be having way more of the ball as well in this opening half of the quarter. GB really need to step up the tempo and bring their intensity to this game.

Every gold medal has a beginning, and for Tom Daley it was being taken to the local pool by his father, Rob, as a seven-year-old child 20 years ago.

"He never saw me win an Olympic medal, get married, have a child, teach me to drive, have a pint down the pub," said Daley, remembering his dad, who died of cancer in 2011 at the age of 40.

"My journey started in Plymouth, back in 2001, when I went to a local diving pool and thought it was cool to see divers doing somersaults on the board.

"I decided that I wanted to try it and I pestered my dad to take me to the diving pool."
