    Men's laser

Team GB's Elliot Hanson sat fifth after his opening race yesterday - but he's encountered choppier waters in the men's laser this morning.

Sunday’s second Laser race was postponed to Monday due to what governing body World Sailing called “light and shifty” winds.

European champion Hanson has finished 12th and 17th in races two and three today to slip to 10th overall - but there are still seven races to go to make up that ground.

Tom Squires has bounced back from a tough first day in some style on the second day of the men's windsurfing at Enoshima.

After posting finishes of ninth, 13th and 14th on the opening day, the Brit has come second in Monday's first race.

Two more races to go today and eight overall before the medal race - and that second-placed finish moves Squires up to 12th overall.

It's not to be for Adam Burgess in the canoe slalom. Although he put in a clean performance to take an early lead in the final, the man from Staffordshire has seen some better displays from the remaining seven athletes and he is down in fourth with a couple of paddlers still to go.

    That was brilliant.

Lauren Williams controlled and dictated that!

We saw her take someone out inside a minute of the first contest of today. We saw her breakthrough her quarter final by her brain and using tactics.

But what we saw there was a sensible Lauren Williams, a Lauren Williams who didn't commit. She's got several Olympics left in her!

Lauren Williams started taekwondo after watching Jade Jones win gold at London 2012. Nine years later, at her first Olympics, she's just guaranteed herself a medal.

So there it is, Tom Pidcock wins Great Britain's third Olympic gold with a hugely impressive and dominant performance in the men's mountain bike cross-country race in Japan.

The 21-year-old from Leeds moved to the front midway through and never let go of the lead as he finished 20 seconds ahead of Swiss world number one Mathias Flueckiger.

Pidcock geared up for the Tokyo's soaring temperatures by training in a heated tent at home and that paid off as he handled the punishing course and conditions far better than the rest of the field. It's all in the prep...
