GB boxer Karriss Artingstall, who is guaranteed at least a bronze medal in the women's featherweight competition, speaking to BBC One: "In the last round I just had to go out and up the tempo, I believe in myself and back myself when it comes to physicality.

"I'm a fit girl so if you want to go toe-to-toe with me then I'll go all day but, I am better at boxing so I'll stick to that.

"I've got two days off now, finally. Little rest, few ice baths, tick over a little bit. Then get my head set on the next one.

"I'm over the moon to be on the podium, hopefully I can go and change the colour of the medal in two days time."

    Team GB

Team GB Rugby Sevens captain Dan Bibby speaking on BBC One: "Deflated, it hurts. There's not many words to sum it up, it really hurts.

"I don't think we were off the pace, we gave two easy tries away which in a finals match like that you can't give those away. We've seen it all all weekend, a missed tackle or a bouncing ball and that's the game.

"Would I change anything? No. Because when I looked around at the end I could see everyone was hurt because everyone left it out there. You don't mind losing if you feel like you fired every shot and we gave it everything."

On a difficult build-up to the tournament: "To be here is a bit of a miracle from where we were 12 months ago.

"We know how hard we worked to just get the team together. I am beyond proud of the boys of being here and giving everything to each other and to GB and all our friends and family at home.

"That is bigger than any medal - I would trade all the medals in the world for the friendships I have here."

Britain's Geraint Thomas, a two-time Olympic gold medallist and former Tour de France winner, came 12th in the men's individual time trial earlier today.

“It was tough," said the Welshman. "I tried to start at a pace that we thought would be there or thereabouts for a medal. Then I heard I was 50 seconds down on [eventual winner Primoz] Roglic which wasn’t great for morale.

“I had a bad patch on the climb of the second lap, and lost momentum and concentration a bit. Rohan [Dennis] caught me and that wasn’t good for the head either.

"It’s been a super hard five weeks and it just seems to be one thing after the next.

“I tried to stay positive and stay on it, tried to put the hat in the ring and not be scared of failing. It’s just been tough, especially mentally as well. I just need to stay positive and try to keep going."

New Zealand are a proud nation, a nation of 3.5 million people but New Zealand All Blacks really runs through the core of that. For them to get silver is that progress after not getting anything in Rio?

I don't know, I think they'll be disappointed. For a country that has won the World Sevens Series more than anyone else, how is that success not being transferred to the Olympics?
