The journey to get here to get to this Olympics has been so peculiar and has been for absolutely everyone of course - but for them to come away with a bronze medal, knowing everything that they've been through!

They've had players retiring, uncertainty, training on there own, isolation, surgeries, no funding but crowd funding and national lottery funding. If they were to come away with a medal today, not just me but everyone back at home, friends and family, couldn't be more proud of what they've gone on to achieve.

The sevens can be really exciting, it can be really cut and thrust and when someone gets the ball in their hands everyone wants to see tries.

But defence is the cornerstone of this game and Team GB are putting together really good defensive sets.

What I really love about the sevens is how it has captured a broad audience.

I think it's really important to put a bit of context about what these boys have done to get here. Just over a year ago they were effectively unemployed, training by themselves, trying to keep fit whilst there was so much uncertainty.

So it's a real achievement that they are here in the first place.

They will have learned from the New Zealand defeat that you can't give the opposition that amount of ball and amount of opportunity that they did. They almost just ran out of steam and ideas in the end.

It's been an almighty challenge but all credit to these guys. Hopefully when they look back, with a bronze medal around their necks , they'll be really proud of what they've done.

And then there were none. Liam Broady - Britain's final hope in the tennis events - is out of the men's singles as France's Jeremy Chardy runs away with the deciding set.

Once the obvious disappointment subsides, the 27-year-old from Stockport will reflect on a memorable experience in Tokyo.

Broady was a late call-up to the British squad after Dan Evans tested positive for coronavirus, and marked his Olympic debut with two victories including a fine win over Wimbledon semi-finalist Hubert Hurkacz in the second round.

The last 10 seconds when Skye Nicolson pinned her back I though that would be the decider - she had a good few minutes. Karriss Artingstall is elated - it's a semi-final now.

She is beating people she's meant to lose to, she's beaten the number three seed, she's just beaten the Commonwealth Games champion.

Once you get to a semi-final, all bets are off.

It's been a good day for Great Britain inside the ring.

Karriss Artingstall has reached the semi-final in the women's featherweight after a split decision win over Australia's Skye Nicolson - she's guaranteed a bronze medal.

It follows round of 16 victories for Ben Whittaker in the men's light-heavyweight and Lauren Price in the women's middleweight.
