Amelie Morgan was part of the Team GB quartet which made history yesterday, winning the first medal in the women's team event in 93 years.

The bronze medalist spoke to BBC Radio 5 Live's Rachel Burden and Mark Chapman this morning - and her mum Kate came on air too.

Kate said she didn't have "huge expectations" for her daughter and teammates.

"They're such a young team. I just wanted her to go out and enjoy it...I was slightly incredulous when I realised they could actually do it."

Amelie said her mum had helped her though her whole journey.

"She's been with me for every single step - the good and the bad. Huge hats off to my mum!"

Dancing to a fine tune...published at 10:06 British Summer Time 28 July 2021

    Dressage

We are under way in the individual grand prix freestyle dressage event. Great Britain have a few interests in this including Charlotte Dujardin, Carl Hester and Charlotte Fry.

They are yet to saddle up but we bring you early news of American Steffen Peters making his horse - Suppenkasper - dance to an absolute banger in Haddaway's 'What Is Love (Baby don't hurt me)'.

That song hit number one in 13 countries but only reached number two in the UK. We really should take a look at ourselves.

Peters sits top of the leaderboard after the early shows here. A long way to go but for that slick beat, he deserves it.

    Rugby Sevens

We could be having a shock in the rugby sevens, with Fiji racing into a 12-0 lead in the men's sevens final against New Zealand.

Some of the Fiji players were in tears during the national anthems and there could be more tears of joy if they can hold on to this one. We've got four minutes of the first half left.

Right, I'm off to see if I can see an Olympian somewhere in Salford (there's loads of them here working on radio and telly).

Michael Emons will keep you company for a little while.

It's half-time in Group D of the men's football and Saudi Arabia are level against Brazil thanks to Abdulelah Alamri's header.

Brazil are still topping the group as it stands, though only on goal difference to Ivory Coast, who are drawing 0-0 with Germany at the break.

All to play for in the second half!

The ying and the yang of any sport sees contrasting emotions - devastation on the faces of these GB players but what an effort.

Argentina have captured the hearts of rugby fans and sports fans all over and a bronze medal is just reward for that.

The anguish on the GB players is palpable.

Sport in its beauty and its devastation in equal measure.

Rugby Sevens: Argentina 17-12 Great Britain

    Sonja McLaughlan
Reporter on BBC Radio 5 Live

The worst possible scene here if you're a supporter of GB sevens, they look disconsolate. I think they're exhausted, one or two are just slumped over on their haunches. Alex Davies is absolutely distraught, this is really disappointing for this GB team. They had an opportunity to go from silver last time for another Olympic medal.

By contrast, there are wild scenes of joy for the Argentinians - they have enough energy to celebrate. They're hugging each other and jumping around.

GB showed such patience there not to panic, they know where they are in this match. Only three minutes left on the clock and it's all square and they took that try beautifully - Ollie Hague wasn't going to miss from there.
