Helen Glover, who finished fourth in the women's pair with Polly Swann, speaking to BBC Sport: "Right now I'm pleased we put everything on the line.
"We knew it was going to be really big, a big final to be in. Getting here was a tough route and so we knew when we crossed having spent everything.
"Looking back on the way we got here, I think we are pleased with that result. It shows a lot of our hard work."

For Fintan McCarthy to come in and take the place of Paul O'Donovan's brother [Gary]... for Paul to build the trust and build the relationship. Paul must've wanted to finish this with his brother but he had to form a new relationship.
Both crews have raced well because the Italians have been nip and tuck with these three, the Irish and the Germans, all year. I think both the Germans and the Irish stepped up for that final.
Men's lightweight double sculls
Brilliant. Paul O'Donovan and Fintan McCarthy up the tempo and pull clear to take gold for Ireland.
Men's lightweight double sculls
Paul O'Donovan is pulling like a diesel engine in the Irish boat who are slowly reeling in the German pair who went off like a train.
Both boats are well clear of the third-placed Italians.

Emma Champion:Helen Glover and Polly Swann are absolute heroes for even being in the boat, let alone the final. One returning from retirement & three babies, the other a Doctor during the pandemic. Super proud of both of them.
Anon: Well done ladies, great effort just wasn’t to be.
James Stevenson: It’s fourth for Helen Glover and Polly Swann. But as inspirational athletes go Helen Glover is on top of the podium. Champion on and off the water.
Men's lightweight double sculls
Ireland go into this as favourites in lane three.
Paul and Gary O'Donovan won the nation's first Olympic rowing medal when they took silver behind France in the event at Rio 2016.
Paul is back for Tokyo 2020 with new partner Fintan McCarthy.

I know Helen would've wanted that podium desperately but she will now be the first British female rower to come back after having children and make the Olympic team - and she did it in style.
Helen and Polly are incredible athletes, a brilliant partnership. The start wasn't what we expected from them but they have proved through the last two races they can compete with the best in the world.
It always feels hard and harsh talking about another fourth place but I think right now, they will have to let that result sink in - but they will be incredibly proud.

I made a comeback after four years and by then you have lost the start and you've lost the sprint finish. The sprint finish is what cost them medal because they were handling the conditions incredibly well today. They just had the lack of top speed.
Women's pair
A lack of topline speed costs Helen Glover and Polly Swann, who finish fourth.
New Zealand take the gold. The Russian Olympic Committee take silver, with Canada holding on for bronze.
There's no fairytale return for Glover, but she and Swann can hold their heads high.

Jay Baker: C'mon Team GB - I can barely watch.
