After a rain delay in the men's golf earlier, Rory McIlroy continued his charge up the leaderboard when the players returned.

The four-time major winner knocked in two more birdies to move to eight under - tied second and two shots behind leader Carlos Ortiz of Mexico - but then bogeyed the last to drop back to seven.

Nevertheless, the 32-year-old is well placed after a five-under 66.

McIlroy's team-mate Shane Lowry is also seven under at the halfway stage of the four-round event following a six-under 65 today.

Great Britain's Paul Casey is five under, with team-mate Tommy Fleetwood and Open champion Collin Morikawa of the United States back on three under.

I am absolutely over the moon. I don't care what colour the medal is. It has been such a difficult time for these athletes during this time. Just to get out there and do your best is just phenomenal.

I am so proud of her, she worked so hard. We had to go back in the gym, when we was allowed to from elite training guidance. There was just the two of us in there and then she centralised in March.

    She's a very elegant trampolinist.

She's uses her long legs to her advantage - really shows beautiful shapes in the air and they all know it's going to be very tight.

Only two gymnasts to go - can she hold on?

    Craig Heap
Commonwealth Games gold-winning gymnast on BBC TV

Fantastic routine from Bryony Page - enormous pressure coming into this Games. Already an Olympic silver medallist - what she makes up is the execution, the way she performs these skills. Just one part of the routine where she drifted off but she did so well and pulls it back.

Oh my word that is it, she is guaranteed another Olympic medal!
