So proud of her, there was a few errors there that she dealt with so well. She overrotated on her second-to-last skill. It wasn't the routine possible she was capable of, but she has completed the full 10 skills and I am just so proud of her

The gymnasts have to really work the bed of the trampoline - not only to get the points for time in the air but also to make sure they can land these big skills and get them round.

    Trampolining final

Dafne Navarro Loza of Mexico is first to go...and first to fall.

She comes unstuck in a tangle of limbs after a promising start to her routine.

The judges give her a decent 48.345 in recognition of the start. It could have been so much better though.

Well if you thought the artistic gymnastics was complicated, this isn't much easier. They've got laser beams, displacement beams all calculated electronically so they calculate the seconds in the air during the routine, they have to bounce as high as they can while also packing in difficulty.

They get displacement deductions so it's all about staying in the centre of the trampoline and it's also all about difficulty.

  8. Page's road from Riopublished at 07:00 British Summer Time 30 July 2021

    Trampolining final

Bryony Page won Olympic silver in 2016 after years of inner struggle; early in her career, Page was vulnerable to a condition known as ‘Lost Skill Syndrome’ – a mental block which renders an athlete incapable of performing skills that were previously automatic.

In the aftermath of her Rio success, Page’s issues became physical and she missed nearly two years of competition. A bone spur on her ankle required surgery but it wouldn’t heal properly and it was eventually discovered she had an extra muscle in the joint that needed to be removed.

Page returned with a World Cup bronze in 2018 and had a best of fourth in 2019 before ending the year – and most recent full season – with 14th place individually and a team silver medal at the World Championships.

Thanks to Harry Poole for an epic stint. A nightwatchman with the flair of a pinch hitter.

Talking of flair, the women's trampolining final field are just wandering out into the arena in sparkle of sequins and smiles.

    Women's qualification

    Christine Still

What a disappointment, three bounces in and it looked like it was going great.

Once they drift to the side, there seems to be no coming back from it. Laura Gallagher will be bitterly disappointed, all that work.

  13. GB's Page through to finalpublished at 06:43 British Summer Time 30 July 2021

    Women's trampolining qualification

That's the women's qualifying done and Bryony Page is safely through.

The 2016 silver medallist claimed the best score from the voluntary routine and ranks third best overall, behind two Chinese athletes.

Canada's Rosie MacLennan, the double defending champion, is next best, but GB's Laura Gallagher won't be joining them in the final in 10 minutes' time.

    'I am in Shock'published at 06:20 British Summer Time 30 July 2021

    BMX

Team GB and Olympic gold medallist Bethany Shriever to BBC Sport: "Honestly I am in shock, to even be here is an achievement in itself, to get to the final and then to come away with a medal, let alone a gold medal, I am over the moon.

"It means so much, I am so grateful for the support. I am overwhelmed.

"[A gold medal] Wasn't my goal, results are out of our control at the end of the day. To just keep to my routine and keep my cool around the track is what I was best at. It managed to hold on and take the win."
