He's eighth to go. The top 10 of 20 progress to the final.
Men's light heavy-weight quarter-finals
Team GB
Team GB boxer Ben Whittaker speaking to BBC Sport: "I don't want to cry again! I've been crying like a baby, it was weird. Before I was thinking a bronze is nothing, a silver is nothing, but when the win did come I had a little celebration and out of nowhere it hit me 'do you know what you've done?!'. All the time I've been in the gym with other Olympians all telling me their stories and I never really believed it and the coaches said I'm going to be on the wall in Sheffield and it hit me - I need a haircut before that!
"It was difficult, you never want to look too far ahead but I can't help myself. The people on my side of the draw are big swingers - I'm a confident, arrogant lad but I won't lie when I came out my belly was doing flips my legs were gone, but as soon as the bell went it went away. I got the first round and the second went the other way and I thought oh no - but it doesn't matter if it was split or unanimous - a win's a win."
On support from other Team GB boxers in arena: "I love them all but it's a selfish sport so for my first two fights I had no one there, no flags for me. I came out today I saw the flags I looked up at Frazer Clarke and all the rest and them being there it pushed me to go on. This is only the start - Sunday it gets real and then next Wednesday it gets even more real - so just keep getting behind us all, not just me, keep getting up early with your cup of tea or coffee and supporting us!
"I want to come back with the gold medal and become the mayor of Wolverhampton and call all the shots!"
Quite the interview with Ben Whittaker following his quarter-final victory.
I *think* he's just entered the race to become the next mayor of Wolverhampton...
Women's qualification
No major hiccups in Laura Gallagher's first routine but she's left herself with a bit of work to do to make sure she makes the final.
Bryony Page has just done her second, and it's all good for the 2016 silver medallist. The top eight go through and that should be enough to book her place. Can Gallagher join her?
Dina Asher-Smith started her bid to become the first British woman to win an Olympic individual sprint gold with routine progress from the 100m heats, finishing behind American Teahna Daniels with a run of 11.07 seconds.
Team-mates Daryll Neita and Asha Philip also qualified from their heats for Saturday's semi-finals.
In the women's 800m, British trio Jemma Reekie, Keely Hodgkinson and Alex Bell safely reached the semi-finals, and in the high jump Tom Gale reached the men's final with a season's best of 2.28m.
Men's eights
Moe Sbihi talking to Matthew Pinsent on BBC Sport after winning men's eight bronze: "Proud of the boys, proud of the way we raced that race and the way that we've handled this week but also tinged with a bit of disappointment and sadness because I feel like we are a great crew. We had our expectations set really high. A bit of sadness and overall really proud and happy to come away with a medal.
"We had our heads clearly in the boat but obviously Henry's (Fieldman, cox) giving us a bit of feedback. We knew we were in a good position 750-850m in and then the Kiwis did to us what they did in the rep [repercharge]. They just kept moving in that middle km.
"It's something we pride ourselves on and try and push on from, and they just had a little bit more and as a consequence they beat us twice and they would have been brimming with confidence with that, that whatever we threw at them they could respond. That's a lesson learned for us as a crew, as a team as well. At the end it was throw everything at it to try and get that silver medal.
Feast your eyes on this selection. Some terrific moments so far on day seven, and hopefully many more to come.
Duncan Scott took 200m individual medley silver...
Luke Greenbank won 200m backstroke bronze...
And the men's eight claimed bronze as the rowing came to a close in Tokyo...

Shanaze Reade
Former GB & Olympic BMX Racer
That delivered beyond what I thought - I made a list of riders who I thought would make the podium and some were up there but some surprises.
Beth [Shriever] I put her on the podium but not for a win as it's her first Games but she's absolutely blown it out of the water.
I felt more nervous than I did racing because I had no control - I feel exhausted myself!
Just joining us?
Sit tight, there's a lot to take in.

Wills: Really refreshing to hear from ex GB athlete Shanaze Reade about how young people who have been inspired can actually take up certain sports like BMX. Feel like it should be plugged more, especially for sports you wouldn’t necessarily see on TV outside the Olympics

In that last 15 seconds he thought he had done enough, he thought 'If I get on my bike now I can't get hit'. Had he been caught in the last 5 seconds, then we could have said stop showboating.
He is going to showboat it is part of what he does, but did you see his face once it come to the decision. He wasn't so confident then when he was waiting for his hand to be raised.
Women’s light round of 16
Earlier, Caroline Dubois reached the last eight of the women’s light competition with victory over USA’s Rashida Ellis.

So, with that result both Ben Whittaker and Pat McCormack (men's welter) are guaranteed boxing medals.
What a day this is turning out to be.

Ben Whittaker was so confident he had got it there at the end - that's a good sign from a boxer. He's so overwhelmed - well done Ben, you're home and dry.
Men’s light-heavy quarter-finals
GB's Ben Whittaker takes it!
He guarantees himself an Olympic medal by reaching the semi-final.

Whittaker is doing enough. Don't be fooled by the gold hair, here is a kid that had to earn money to keep his boxing dream alive. He pulled pints and served pies at Molinuex you've got to be tough to do both of those things.
Men’s light-heavy quarter-finals
Now then, which way is this one going?
Both Ben Whittaker and Ken Machado think they have done enough...
Men’s light-heavy quarter-finals
It's finely poised after two rounds at the Kokugikan Arena.
It all comes down to the third and final round for GB's Ben Whittaker and Brazil’s Ken Machado.
