BBC One
Men's team pursuit cyclist and three-time Olympic gold medallist Ed Clancy on BBC One: "I thought long and hard about retirement during the pandemic. We had a difficult World Championship at the start of 2020, there was a lot of unknowns and I was considering my other options. I spoke to friends, family and thought about it for months. I decided I wanted to crack on.
"There's no doubt that the standard of the team pursuit has moved on. Particularly over the last 18 months or so, that World Cup season and those World Championships - the Danes have taken it to a new level. I think back to Beijing and London, it was us against the Australians. It's not going to be anything like that this time. That's good though! It's good for the spectator.
"It's going to be a fight, it will be hard work, but that's the beauty of sport. We're still in it to win it. We're working hard."

Australia have the chance to go again, after Great Britain.
The rider face-planted and is currently being assessed. He has a graze on his nose but it could have been a lot worse.
The track is getting some attention too.
Men's rings
It's a Chinese one-two in the first of today's gymnastics finals.
Liu Yang takes men's rings gold with a score of 15.50, with compatriot You Hao claiming silver with 15.30.
Greek Eleftherios Petrounias, who suffered a career-threatening shoulder injury in 2018, gets bronze with a score of 15.20.
GB twins Jessica and Jennifer Gadirova will be up next in the floor final.
USA 0-0 Canada - Women's football semi-final
After six minutes of stoppage time, the whistle blows inside the Kashima Stadium and we're still waiting for the first goal and indeed the first shot on target in this women's football semi-final.
The added time came after Team USA were forced into a first-half change as goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher landed awkwardly under the challenge of Nichelle Prince.
The quarter-final penalty shootout hero was eventually replaced by Adrianna Franch, who is yet to be tested.

Just Australia and Great Britain to go... and there's a man down for Australia!
At first it seemed that the rider at the back clipped the bike in front. But no, it was an equipment failure. The handlebars literally just fell off!
Katelyn Ohashi
American Cup winning artistic gymnast on BBC Radio 5 Live
Simone Biles is not doing a lot of twisting so she is a lot safer on the beam than most of the other events that she would be competing in. She can change her dismount because, obviously, she will be doing a lot higher difficulty than the others competing.

Denmark's splits are below Italy here. Can they improve on their own world record?
Not quite, but they've now got the Olympic record too - 3:45.014.

Men's team pursuit qualifying
Denmark hold the world record of 3:44.672, which they set as they won last year's World Championships... and they're next up in the Izu Velodrome.
Simone Biles will compete in tomorrow's beam final, the USA Gymnastics team has announced.
Biles, 24, withdrew from Monday's floor final, having pulled out of the women's team final and individual all-around final last week to focus on her mental health.

Chris Boardman
Olympic cycling champion on BBC TV
Italy have gone a huge amount faster than their qualifying time at the World Championships. We've seen four teams and every one of them has cracked in the last half kilometre - I think it shows that that is what's required now. You cannot have anything left in reserve. The speeds they're travelling...
Men's team pursuit qualifying
Canada were leading the way in the men's team pursuit qualifying with a time of 3:50.455.
But Italy have just blown that away with 3:45.895... it's an Olympic record too, way better than the 3:50.265 Great Britain set when they won gold in 2016.

Carl: Max Whitlock is an inspiration when talking about mental health in sports (see 7:25 entry)
Will: Time for SIR Max Whitlock not just a gymnast, an inspiration!
Andrew: Max Whitlock seems a very nice guy.
Team GB
Max Whitlock also spoke about the importance of his daughter, Willow, on the future of his career: "I wanted to have Willow when I was young because I love that she can see me in competitions. She watched this competition on TV. That feels incredible, it is 10 times more of an amazing feeling.
"That is huge motivation for me to continue as well [to Paris 2024]. I would love her to travel round the country with me seeing what I do in real life. I never wanted it to be watching on videos of what I used to do.
"It would be amazing [if Willow could come to Paris]. A shorter cycle helps me. I am 28 years old now and for a gymnast, peak age is usually about 22 or 23.
"I am still going. I would love to make it four Olympics, that would be amazing. I still have more in the tank so hopefully I could prove that."
USA 0-0 Canada - Women's football semi-final
We're 20 minutes into the first women's football semi-final and it's still goalless between the USA and Canada.
There are worrying scenes for Team USA as goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher has been down receiving treatment on her knee for a few minutes after landing awkwardly under the challenge of Nichelle Prince.
Adrianna Franch has been warming up but her bib is back on it looks like Naeher is going to give it another go.
Team GB
Gold medallist Max Whitlock spoke to BBC Radio 5 Live earlier about being the first man up in Sunday's pommel horse final and how that impacted his approach:
"I think it is the art of gymnastics, you have to make the difficult stuff look easy. Pommel horse has to flow, it has to be smooth, any jolty bits or legs apart is a deduction and a mistake, so the smoother it is, the better.
"The pressure was on because my risk was huge. It was the biggest routine that I have ever completed before and being first man up was a new experience for me.
"I normally go a little further down the line and Scott (Hann, coach) normally watches the scores that come in from the other competitors and we kind of gauge what routine level I do. I have three different versions of routine that go up in difficulty.
"But this time I had no options, first man up, I had to go all in and give it my best shot. I was so happy to do a clean routine under that pressure, especially against those other competitors. It was a really strong final. It was amazing to watch them compete the way they did as well."
