'So important to keep on the line'published at 09:22 British Summer Time 4 August 2021

    Men's sprint

    Sir Chris Hoy
Six-time Olympic cycling champion on BBC TV

That was a really tactically assured performance from Jason Kenny.

He saw the gap and he has the speed.

It looks quite simple, but it is incredibly technical - the G forces that are happening, 2 Gs and 50mph - a slight waver will add distance to your lap. It is so important to keep on that black line.

Canada's Nick Wammes seals his place in the men's sprint last 16 after winning the final heat in the velodrome

Most importantly for British fans, it is a job well done for Jason Kenny and Jack Carlin. Both riders are safely through to the quarter-finals.

Cheers Emma. The only golden touch I've got is on my hair after a few days in the Salford sun.

Let's hope the Brits going in the equestrian can change that. Here is what is coming up over the next few hours...

Right. Now I've taken all the medal glory, I'm shooting off to get some breakfast.

Jonathan Jurejko is taking over. Hopefully he's got the midas touch. Enjoy, JJ!

    Men's sprint

    Victoria Pendleton
Olympic cycling gold medalist on BBC Radio 5 Live

It wasn't that close - Jason Kenny definitely wasn't going to mess around with this. There are going to be some tough repechage heats in this event with the losers of the heats competing in that.

But Jason is still showing his class on the track in the sprint.

    Job done!

    'I feel like a failure'published at 08:56 British Summer Time 4 August 2021

    Men's light heavyweight

    BBC One

GB's silver medallist boxer Ben Whittaker on BBC One: "You don't win silver, you lose gold. I'm very disappointed with myself, I didn't perform well. Of course, he's a class operator - two-time Olympic gold medallist now but I'm very disappointed. I feel like a failure.

"You're in this game to win gold, not win silver. I'm very upset, but this feeling will stick with me now. I don't want to feel like this again.

"Maybe in a couple years I can look back with my kids and say: 'Your dad lost a gold medal,' but that's all it is now. I'll push this to the back of my mind because I didn't achieve what I wanted to achieve.

"I just want to thank God for putting me in this position, I want to thank everyone in Great Britain for getting behind me. I'm sorry for making you wake up and see me let you down. I will come back, trust me.

"I don't want to look like a baby or a spoilt brat, but I'm just so upset that I've not won gold. I feel like I've lost gold. I can't celebrate silver just yet.

"Wolverhampton's mayor, bless him, did a little video for me wishing me luck, he said that if I get the gold, I get the chain - I didn't get the gold so he can keep it for a bit. When I do go pro and I get a championship belt, hopefully, we can talk about this again."

There's no way this happened. They have audio coming off the boats and it would have been a quick and tidy collusion with the Jury.

If there had been a collision, [GB] would have had to do a penalty turn that would have dropped them out of the top seven. That felt like an opportunitst protest from the French to throw mud and see if anything stuck.

Canada's Andre de Grasse strolled to victory in the semi-finals and looks favourite to take the men's 200m title. Three Americans in Kenny Bednarek, 17-year-old Erriyon Knighton and world champion Noah Lyles are all major threats. That final starts at 13:55 BST.

Katarina Johnson-Thompson will continue her heptathlon challenge with the shot put and 200m to come.

Britain's Nick Miller will be in the hammer (12:15) and Lizzie Bird in the 3,000m steeplechase (12:00).
