There's non-stop action at the Izu Velodrome today and next up is more British interest, as Katie Archibald and Laura Kenny go in the madison, with the women's event making its Olympic debut in Tokyo.

Kenny could become the first British woman to win gold at three Olympic Games while any medal would see her join Charlotte Dujardin on six medals as the nation's most-decorated female.

Archibald, meanwhile, is looking for her second Olympic gold and third medal in total.

Just the 120 laps to battle through...

Fellow Briton Jo Muir is down in 31st position.

Germany's Annika Schleu has built up a 24-point cushion in the gold medal position - French is 40 points behind her but only 13 adrift of the bronze medal spot.

    Chris Boardman

Jack Carlin knew that in that back straight he had to accelerate hard and keep him on the hip and get over the top. He managed it for a while the plan was executed - he made it as hard as possible for Harry Lavreyson and made him go the long way round but in the end he didn't quite have the same engine.

The creep is on, with Harrie Lavreysen going high and wide to get the run on Jack Carlin.

It's so tight on the bend, wheel spokes almost tickling one another, Carlin hits the straight with the narrowest of leads but it's world champion Lavreysen who bursts through on the line and the Dutchman books his place in the final.

Great Britain's Carlin will go into the bronze medal race.

It's a little bit over for Noah Williams but it's neat and tidy. He's attacking the dive and from a shaky start, hopefully he will get through and settle into his diving a bit more.

He's been penalised heavily for being too close to the diving board.

He's not still outside of the danger zone.

More from Frazer Clarke, on team spirit among Team GB boxers: "We had a strong bond coming out here but the success of us goes down to the coaches, staff, the National Lottery and all those people who buy a ticket - they help us out without knowing it, all that funding.

"That's helped us to train through the pandemic in difficult times where other countries may have not. We've been able to carry on - we bonded through the terrible time of the pandemic but the team is full of banter and laughs and we're there to support each other because we know how hard it is to be in this sport."

GB boxing bronze medallist Frazer Clarke on BBC One: "Lauren [Price] is really showing her class - you talk about women's boxing Price is the name you mention and she's shown that in this tournament."

On his fight: "Frustrating because I'm a proud fighter and I would've liked to see the final round and go to a final bout. My pride wanted me to see the end of the fight but I'm not saying I was going to win the fight, he's a good boxer. I got caught and it opened up a new cut and that's how it is."

On his bronze medal: "It means the world, anyone who's been to Sheffield at the boxing centre will know you get your photo on the wall if you're an Olympic medallist - I wanted to get my face on that wall and to leave a legacy in the gym. The picture on the wall was massive for me, the medal will be nice for the family but I wanted to be on that wall, that's what was going through my head."
