What a story Flora Duffy is...
She is making Bermudan history here. Their only Olympic medal to date was a men’s boxing heavyweight bronze in 1976 in Montreal from Clarence Hill.
If she manages it, it is some turnaround given that she stopped triathlon altogether in the wake of being lapped – and failing to finish – on her Olympic debut in Beijing in 2008.

Georgia Taylor-Brown looks to be smiling. She is running clear of Katie Zaferes and is in pole position for a silver medal.

Bermuda has a population of 65,000 people - I wonder how many are watching Duffy in her bid for a historic gold medal for the north Atlantic island? They are fours hours behind British Summer Time or 12 hours behind Japan time!

Flora Duffy is 2,500m from the gold medal.
Believe it or not she could actually have competed for Team GB.
Her parents both have British passports and after a spell at boarding school in Tavistock, Devon, from 16-18, she was offered the chance to join the GB set-up.

Zaferes is not giving up on that silver medal, and Taylor-Brown is having to battle every inch of the way

Now then, how much energy has Georgia Taylor-Brown expended after suffering the misfortune of that flat tyre on the bike?
She's five seconds off Katie Zaferes but has she got her pacing right here? Guess we are about to find out.
Meanwhile, Flora Duffy looks to have the gold in the bag. She looks so smooth in her stride pattern unlike the American behind her.

All the athletes are pouring water over their heads and stuffing ice bags down their vests in a bid to keep cool.
The temperature out on the road is scorchio even without the sun.

If British contender Georgia Taylor-Brown is looking for omens then her start number should do the trick.
Taylor-Brown is sporting the number 34 on her kit, which to date is the luckiest Olympic start number, with three medals won by athletes in that number.
At the moment she is four seconds off Katie Zaferes. And a possible silver medal.

Georgia Taylor-Brown is past Laura Lindemann. Katie Zaferes and second place are a further 11 seconds down the road.
Flora Duffy looks absolutely imperious mind. She's almost becoming a dot on the horizon to her chasers.

Katie Zaferes is not safe in that silver medal position. Georgia Taylor-Brown will be doing everything to run her down, and she has been running very well.
But Zaferes is an athlete who never gives up and she tends to run quicker in the second section.

Georgia Taylor-Brown is running out of her skin. She hands team-mate Jess Learmonth a bottle of water as she breezes past.
Katie Zaferes and Laura Lindemann are now both well in view. Surely not?

Now Flora Duffy puts the hammer down. She is motoring and runs clear of Zaferes and Lindemann.
