Georgia Taylor-Brown has gone some there. She lost about 22 seconds but did well to hold it at that.

She is in the transition area getting her running shoes on and is about to give chase.

This requires a super-human effort now from Georgia Taylor-Brown to catch up

I think Georgia Taylor-Brown has got a flat back tyre - she is struggling in the turns - might just have cost her gold medal chances

    Georgia Taylor-Brown is in trouble....

Is that a flat? She dropping off the leaders and looks to be some distance from being able to change, which would take a huge chuck of time anyway.

Have her hopes of a gold just gone up in smoke?

It is hard to think any of the medals, barring any mishaps, will come from anyone other than in the leading group.

Owen: Which would be more disruptive to my girlfriend sleeping next to me - staying awake watching the rest of the triathlon on my phone, or dozing off but setting an alarm to wake up for the final fifteen minutes? Advice needed?

Anon: Really wish I had put in the five years training to watch let alone participate. Sleep patterns all over the place. Great finale to the triathlon.

We're approaching the end of the penultimate lap on the bikes...there goes the bell.

Still nothing between Katie Zaferes, Jess Learmonth, Flora Duffy, Georgia Taylor-Brown and Laura Lindemann. This is compelling stuff.

Is anyone going to try and blast clear to eke out an advantage?

You'll have probably noticed quite a lot of water being cleared over the course of this race.

Let's hope she and Jess Learmonth have plenty in the tank for that run Ryan. Even though the sun is not shining it's about 90% humidity out on the course.

Jordi: Pulled two all-nighters in a row and going for my third tonight. I’m so addicted to the Olympics. I physically can’t sleep and risk missing Team GB winning a medal.

Ryan: Another GB medal on the cards here the way this bike leg is panning out. Georgia Taylor-Brown is capable of beating every athlete in this lead group across 10k.

Vittoria Lopes is out of the saddle just to keep pace with her breakaway companions.
