"What a game of rugby we are getting here. Josh Furno, who I have been really impressed with, finished off some great play from Italy, he completely exposed Scotland there and it really is game on."

Scotland make more ground but lose their composure at a critical moment, with Greig Laidlaw delaying getting the ball away at the base of a ruck and Italy fly-half Tommy Allan getting his foot to it. That is Laidlaw's last act of this game. He is replaced by Chris Cusiter.

At long last Scotland have a try, their first of this Six Nations. And what a good try too. Can Scotland kick on from here?

The Scots continue to press forward but the Italian defence is doing its job. The visitors are awarded another penalty within easy range but pass up the opportunity for three points when captain Greig Laidlaw opts to go for a quick tap, but centre Matt Scott slips a few metres from the try-line and the chance is lost.

There is just no flair and no creativity, and Italy will look at that and know that it they can have a solid defence and don't give away penalties, it will be enough because Scotland are devoid of ideas of how to score a try."

Scotland assistant coach Duncan Hodge tells BBC Sport: "Our line speed has got to be better around the ruck. We've given them too much easy ball there and there's been an horrendous penalty count. We have been killed there and we need more composure in their 22. Our line speed has got to be better around the ruck."
