BBC Sport chief sports writer Tom Fordyce at Twickenham:, external Balmy old day in sunshine pre Eng v Ire. Plucky punters eschewing jackets for jaunty scarves. Massive error in Twickenham's concrete shadows.
Sir Ian McGeechan
Former Lions coach on BBC One
"Scotland need to look at what they were doing in the first 20 minutes, they were doing the simple things well and at one point had 80% of the possession. They need to make sure they dominate the opening 15 minutes of the second half."
Andy Nicol
Former Scotland scrum-half on BBC One
"That was a a big moment for Allan and for Italy. What a time to score a try on the stroke of half-time. Outstanding play from Parisse there to open up the play and allow Allan to make the try. They deserve to to be in front but Scotland will be disappointed to be trailing 13-3."
Former Italian lock Carlo Del Fava on BBC: "It's fantastic. The way they are playing off the scrum, because they are so solid they have something to play off. Any of three players could have scored the try and that shows how they opened things up."
Advantage Italy. Scotland are masters of their own downfall after conceding penalty after penalty. The problems continue to mount for Scott Johnson.
Killer blow for Scotland as Tommaso Allan smashes his way through the defence after Joshua Furno's pass following Sergio Parisse's charge off the back of the scrum. That will really hurt the Scots, who had just replaced Moray Low, who had been poor in the scrum, with Geoff Cross. Allan then sends over his kick to open up a 10 point lead.
Centre Alex Dunbar is penalised for sealing off at the tackle - the 10th penalty Scotland have conceded in this first half, to two from Italy - which allows Italy to kick to touch inside the Scottish 22.
Five minutes to the interval. There's very little between the teams. Chances have fallen to both sides but it's an even contest. Significantly though, Scotland are struggling badly at the scrum.
Sir Ian McGeechan
Former Lions coach on BBC One
"The last few minutes have shown there are going to be opportunities for both sides. It is quite a loose game. We just saw for Scotland that there could have been a try had they got the pass away so there will be chances. But Italy look dangerous when they go through phases."

Moments after Duncan Weir is grounded, Italy win a penalty. That's two out of three kicks for Tommaso Allan. Scotland trail again.
OptaJonny:, external 1 - Scotland have scored just one try in their last five @rbs_6_nations fixtures. Blanks.
Scotland win a turnover in their 22. Fly-half Duncan Weir breaks away into the Italian half but fails to use Sean Lamont on his outside and a golden chance is gone. How costly could that prove?
Former Italian lock Carlo Del Fava on BBC: "I think they [Italy] seem to have fixed the problems they faced in the two line-outs they lost, they have options and need to use them wisely and keep the ball away from the Scotland danger men. They have looked solid in the scrum and they need to continue."
Italy's scrum is working well and has the edge, but Tommaso Allan is unable to take advantage as the 20-year-old's penalty drifts wide of the right upright.
Another scrum penalty for Italy, the fourth Scotland have conceded at the scrum. The Italians dominating that set-piece.

"I think that 3-3 is a fair reflection of proceedings so far. It has been a good contest and very competitive so far with both teams trying to play."

[Tommaso ] Allan has had competent start so far. He came through the ranks for Scotland, playing at all ages and he is now playing for Italy. The debate has raged for a long time about him but he's no Dan Carter is he?"
Captain Greig Laidlaw keeps his composure to send his kick between the posts. Good response from the Scots. The question is: Can they build on this?
