Former Lions coach on BBC One

"Scotland need to look at what they were doing in the first 20 minutes, they were doing the simple things well and at one point had 80% of the possession. They need to make sure they dominate the opening 15 minutes of the second half."

    Andy Nicol
Former Scotland scrum-half on BBC One

"That was a a big moment for Allan and for Italy. What a time to score a try on the stroke of half-time. Outstanding play from Parisse there to open up the play and allow Allan to make the try. They deserve to to be in front but Scotland will be disappointed to be trailing 13-3."

  5. HALF-TIMEpublished at 14:15 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February 2014

Advantage Italy. Scotland are masters of their own downfall after conceding penalty after penalty. The problems continue to mount for Scott Johnson.

  6. TRY (Allan, con Allan)published at 14:13 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February 2014

Killer blow for Scotland as Tommaso Allan smashes his way through the defence after Joshua Furno's pass following Sergio Parisse's charge off the back of the scrum. That will really hurt the Scots, who had just replaced Moray Low, who had been poor in the scrum, with Geoff Cross. Allan then sends over his kick to open up a 10 point lead.

  7. Postpublished at 14:10 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February 2014

Centre Alex Dunbar is penalised for sealing off at the tackle - the 10th penalty Scotland have conceded in this first half, to two from Italy - which allows Italy to kick to touch inside the Scottish 22.

Five minutes to the interval. There's very little between the teams. Chances have fallen to both sides but it's an even contest. Significantly though, Scotland are struggling badly at the scrum.

    Sir Ian McGeechan
Former Lions coach on BBC One

"The last few minutes have shown there are going to be opportunities for both sides. It is quite a loose game. We just saw for Scotland that there could have been a try had they got the pass away so there will be chances. But Italy look dangerous when they go through phases."

  14. Postpublished at 14:00 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February 2014

Former Italian lock Carlo Del Fava on BBC: "I think they [Italy] seem to have fixed the problems they faced in the two line-outs they lost, they have options and need to use them wisely and keep the ball away from the Scotland danger men. They have looked solid in the scrum and they need to continue."

  15. MISSED PENALTY (Allan)published at 14:00 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February 2014

Italy's scrum is working well and has the edge, but Tommaso Allan is unable to take advantage as the 20-year-old's penalty drifts wide of the right upright.
