Talk about a momentum changer. Scotland's buoyancy has taken a major blow and France, such a feeble facsimile of the great sides of the past, suddenly lead having done little of note since the first 20 minutes.

Do Scotland have the mental strength to put the setback behind them and go on to win? They've been looking the better side, do they believe they are?

Mr G:, external Now that was a class interception and try - fair play.

Edward Poole:, external Stupid looping pass from Scotland. Never had a chance to make it to hand! Mistakes like that will cost the game.

"Huget just grabbed the ball out of the air, 15 metres in front of his line and then outran, outsprinted every Scottish player to score. He spotted that pass from Duncan Weir, which was a bit telegraphed, and in a sporting sense that is just complete tragedy."

Former Wales fly-half on BBC One

"Why oh why oh why oh why do you a throw a miss pass? Just be patient and look where you are and put it through the hands. Why throw a miss pass in that situation? That is a kick in the teeth. It should have been a Scottish try!"

  5. TRY (Huget, con Machenaud)published at 18:06 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2014

    NOOOOooooooo.

Scotland turn over the French deep inside the visitors' 22 and the crowd start to rise to their feet - surely the Scots are going to score again.

They look to go wide and fly-half Duncan Weir throws a huge looping pass, but Yoann Huget reads it like a teenager who has just discovered Harry Potter*.

The Frenchman plucks the fruit from the tree and powers 80m to score, desperate Scots labouring in his wake.

*JK Rowling is in the crowd at Murrayfield, otherwise I'd have gone with the Hunger Games, obviously.

Right, enough of the flaccid French, Scotland are playing a blinder. The hosts are back on the attack and a cheeky chip almost goes to Richie Gray's giant hand but just escapes his grasp and goes into touch.

France fly-half Jules Plisson begins the second half by hoofing the ball straight down the middle. Yes, it gets them out of their own 22, but it's pretty aimless stuff from the visitors.

    Sir Ian McGeechan
Former Lions coach and BBC Sport expert

"I think in the first 15-20 minutes of the second half Scotland have to be patient and build on what they have been doing well. If Scotland score first, it will be interesting to see how France react. This is a French side that can be very dangerous, but also very vulnerable."

They couldn't could they? Scottish wins over France are about as rare as wild caught haggis.

France have won 14 of their past 15 meetings at all venues with Scotland since the turn of the century but the hosts are only 40 minutes away from just their third home win over Les Bleus since 1994.

"France are still in the game and I think that is quite dangerous for Scotland. On the whole, though, a pretty good 40 minutes from them."

    Ben Dirs
    BBC Sport at Murrayfield

"Full-back Brice Dulin is looking the part with ball in hand, and it's heartening to see a bit of attacking verve from somebody in the French back-line. That said, it was Scotland's half - and what a contrast with a fortnight ago against England. Fight, spirit and adventure, all the Murrayfield faithful could ask for."

"I'm delighted with Scotland's performance. They have really picked up from where they left off in Rome. They gave France a 6-0 lead but then came back very strongly and scored one of the tries of the Championship. Scotland are well worthy of their lead."

    Jonathan Davies
Former Wales fly-half on BBC One

"France are rudderless at the moment. I cannot see who is managing the game for them. Jules Plisson is too deep and he is kicking badly. Scotland are the better side, they look far more dangerous and if they just play in the right areas and get their defence right, they will go on to win this game."

  16. HALF-TIMEpublished at 17:52 Greenwich Mean Time 8 March 2014

It's all a bit baffling - at least from the French. Scotland are playing well, look the better organised side and deserve the lead.

But France - who started so well as they used Mathieu Bastareaud to hammer into midfield and so threatening when they counter-attacked from deep - then decided that they had to kick every bit of possession they won outside the Scottish 22. Bizarre.

"Coaches always talk about a leadership group needing more than one leader on the field. Kelly Brown and Greig Laidlaw are both natural leaders and that is helping Scotland."

    Gavin Hastings
Former Scotland full-back on BBC Radio 5 live

"This is the best Scotland have played in this whole Six Nations - they really have got their dander up. They are doing so many good things, and if they can just keep the pressure on then they can grab another three points or even a try before half-time - that will really give them the momentum going into the interval.

"Go back to a month ago, when Scotland played England and quite honestly there wasn't any fight or fire in the bellies of Scotland. But now the crowd are really getting behind them because you can see they are working very, very hard. If they can minimise the mistakes they have a real chance of winning this game."
