"Scotland may be at home, but there has been something of a Welsh invasion in Edinburgh this weekend and much of this grand old arena has been painted red today.

"Welsh fans tend to travel well to Edinburgh - little wonder when you consider that Wales haven't lost to Scotland since 2007."

How about his for a bit of mood music from the Scotland camp?

"If we want to win this tournament, we need to win every game from here on out," Sean Lamont said this week.

"If we can win our three home games and steal that away win, then four out of five puts you in a damn good place."

That is bullish talk from a side that have not lifted the trophy since 1999. Vern Cotter does not look like a man who does pep rallies but his side are popping with confidence.

A phrase about barndoors and bolting horses springs to mind.

Wales have left out George North from today's game because of a concussion the wing suffered in the autumn.

Last weekend they threw him back into the mix against England in the wake of an incident that saw him flop to the turf like a half-empty sack of spuds.

Anyway. His absence brings Liam Williams in to the starting XV picture.

The Scarlets wing made a whopping 220 metres with ball in hand in the autumn win over Fiji and leads the Pro12 in metres gained this season, averaging almost 40 metres per game more than any other player.

If metres make the man, he is, indeed, the man.

What Wales would give for a repeat of last year's scoreline when they dismantled Scotland at the Millennium Stadium.

Warren Gatland's side ran in seven tries in a record 51-3 victory.

They were helped on their way by Stuart Hogg's rush of blood in the 22nd minute though. The Scotland full-back laid a sneaky late shoulder on Dan Biggar's temple - only it was not nearly sneaky enough.

After it was replayed on the Millennium Stadium jumbotron screen, referee Jerome Garces called Hogg back off the bench to upgrade his yellow card to a red.
