If you cast your mind back 12 months, it was George Ford's missed drop goal for Bath with the last kick of the last game at Harlequins that cost the Blue, Black and Whites a place in the play-offs.

This year they've got it all wrapped up already, of course, but I wonder if someone else will be in Ford's shoes come 17:00 BST this evening?

  4. Where we standpublished at 16:22 British Summer Time 16 May 2015

If results stay as they are, Exeter Chiefs and Saracens will finish in the play-off places and Leicester Tigers will miss out.

Wasps, meanwhile, will take sixth place despite being behind at London Irish.

    All understood? We hope so!

  5. Pause for breathpublished at 16:20 British Summer Time 16 May 2015

So, it's half-time in all of our games up and down the country. Here's how things stand at the break:

    • Bath 21-13 Gloucester

    • Exeter Chiefs 15-11 Sale Sharks

    • Leicester Tigers 8-9 Northampton Saints

    • London Irish 22-18 Wasps

    • London Welsh 17-26 Saracens

    • Newcastle Falcons 11-16 Harlequins

  6. Around the groundspublished at 16:18 British Summer Time 16 May 2015

Right on half-time, Saracens lead 26-17 at London Welsh thanks to an unconverted Chris Ashton try, which means they now have a try-scoring bonus point.

Elsewhere, Stevie McColl scores for Gloucester to make it 21-13 to Bath at the Rec at half-time.

Meanwhile London Irish are beating Wasps 22-18, and Harlequins are 16-11 up at Newcastle Falcons at the break.

  7. Half-timepublished at 16:18 British Summer Time 16 May 2015

It's been tight and tense at times, but we've had three tries in an engrossing game. Exeter made all the early running, racing into a 8-0 lead, but Sale's defensive effort and front-foot ball for Danny Cipriani has helped them get back into this.

It was a frantic end to the half as the Sharks were pressing close to the line, and when the ball was spilled Exeter's Jack Nowell fancied a dart upfield but it all fizzed out.

  8. Half-timepublished at 16:16 British Summer Time 16 May 2015

Well that was not the first half Leicester would have been hoping for after Jordan Crane's early try.

Richard Cockerill will be disappointed at the number of penalties his team conceded against a Northampton side which is lacking most of their star names.

With Exeter and Saracens both winning at the break, Tigers are now outside the play-off places in fifth as things stand, having started the day in third.

  9. Postpublished at 16:15 British Summer Time 16 May 2015

Both sets of players look exhausted as the game settles down with a series of scrums on the half-way line.

This East Midlands derby has lacked a bit of quality at times, but Leicester will be looking for a better second-half performance.

Leicester are camped in Northampton's half but can't find a way through and Freddie Burns is eventually penalised for coming in at the side five metres from the try-line.

That was a great chance for Richard Cockerill's men to score their second try of the game but more indiscipline has cost them.

Five minutes to go until half-time.

Saracens still have a four-point lead at the Madejski after exchanging quick tries with London Welsh. The score is 21-17 in favour of Mark McCall's side.

Mako Vunipola crossed under the posts for Saracens before Chris Elder replied straight from the restart.

And London Irish have added an unconverted Chris Noakes try to take their lead over Wasps to 19-12.

  12. Try (Nowell, Steenson con, 37 mins)published at 16:09 British Summer Time 16 May 2015

Immediate response from Exeter to Sale's try and this is well worked.

After breaking the line through some crash runners, the ball is moved onto England winger Jack Nowell, who steps inside a challenge on the left side to touch down.

Low and behold, the Chiefs are back into the play-off spots!

Bath have extended their lead against Gloucester. They're now 21-8 up at The Rec thanks to Sam Burgess, who has touched over for their third try of the afternoon.

Meanwhile, Harlequins now lead 13-11 at Newcastle Falcons after a try from Nick Evans.

  14. Try (Beaumont, missed con Cipriani, 33 mins)published at 16:05 British Summer Time 16 May 2015

This has been coming from Sale, who are upsetting the form book at Sandy Park.

They work through the phases before launching a long, looping pass out wide where, for some reason, number eight Josh Beaumont is lurking. He then shows remarkable pace for a man of 6ft 7in and from 25 metres out beats the chasing Exeter backs to touch down.

As things stand, Exeter have just slipped out of the play-off places.

Plenty of errors coming from Leicester Tigers now. Freddie Burns tries to launch a pass out wide but it bounces off the chest of Jordan Crane and away.

Scrum to Northampton. The players are taking a quick drinks break, time for everyone to get their breath back after an intense opening half hour.

  16. Postpublished at 16:04 British Summer Time 16 May 2015

There is a muted atmosphere around Sandy Park at the moment, and that's because Exeter have seen little of the ball since Ian Whitten's opener.

Sale's forwards are on top, driving Exeter back at pretty much every scrum so far, and there seems a nervous energy within the black shirts of the hosts.

  17. Around the groundspublished at 16:03 British Summer Time 16 May 2015

Sailosi Tagicakibau scores an unconverted try for Wasps, who are now just two points behind at London Irish, with the Exiles leading 14-12.

Wasps still lie sixth, as things stand.

Meanwhile, London Welsh have reduced the deficit against play-off chasing Saracens with a penalty - it's now 10-14 at the Madejski.

  18. Postpublished at 16:02 British Summer Time 16 May 2015

And that's yet another penalty conceded by the hosts.

Lock Graham Kitchener is penalised for having his hands on the ball this time and it means Saints can launch another attack.

The home crowd are not too happy with what they've seen in the last 10 minutes.

  19. Penalty (Wilson)published at 15:59 British Summer Time 16 May 2015

Northampton are ahead for the first time this afternoon and it's another silly penalty conceded by Tigers.

Matthew Tait is penalised for having his hands on the floor and James Wilson kicks another three points from the tee.

That's five penalties given away so far by Leicester. They can't afford to lose their discipline here.

  20. Penalty (Cipriani)published at 15:59 British Summer Time 16 May 2015

A break in play in the beaming sunshine and the water boys run on with well-earned drinks.

After dominating the opening 10 minutes, Exeter have found themselves on the back foot and Sale have had a succession of attacking scrums inside Chiefs territory.

The hosts concede another penalty from the scrum and Danny Cipriani slots an easy kick for Steve Diamond's side.
