    Try (Watson)published at 18 mins

    England 12-3 France

Another try for Watson! And it's another ripper... intricate backs move by England from a line-out, Burgess doing his bit in the middle, Farrell with the offload under pressure, May off his wing, draws three men, feeds Watson, who steps and goes over in the right-hand corner. Farrell misses the conversion...

  2. England 7-3 Francepublished at 17 mins

Fickou on for Dulin, although it looks like a blood replacement. Not much give at the scrum, on either side, before Trinh-Duc clears his lines.

  3. England 7-3 Francepublished at 16 mins

Watson like trying to catch a handful of rice, that was real world-class. England turn the ball over, it was Webber, and England make ground through the boot of Slade. Burgess on the charge - loses it, gets it back again. Slade with what looked like a forwadish pass but May latches onto it and is allowed to continue. But it's a France put-in on the other flank...

"Watson caught the ball standing still. I could watch it all day long. There didn't seem too much on but when you have feet like that - Stuart Lancaster has been waiting to see that bit of magic."

  6. converted try

Converted try (Watson, con Farrell)published at 11 mins

    England 7-3 France

England get a rumble on from the line-out, Morgan with the whip hand... what a finish from Watson! Standing start and he's absolutely smoked opposite number Dulin, standing the poor chap up before going over in the right-hand corner. Farrell sweeps over the extras, let's have a look at that Watson try again - sensational, now you see me, now you don't...

    England 0-3 France

England win a scrum in France's half, this will be interesting. England looked to have the advantage but were unable to control things and Nyanga nicked it out of the rubble. France once again finding space in tight spots but eventually they yield a penalty, which Farrell kicks to the corner...

  8. Penalty (Parra)published at 6 mins

    England 0-3 France

It's Clermont's Morgan Parra on kicking duty and he clips over three points with that sweet left peg of his. France looking quick-smart so far, England on the back foot.

"You can see the tactics from France and they're exploiting Sam Burgess a bit. We know about his tackling but he was pulled around a bit and there was an attack down the short side because he's too intent on making the big hits. I don't want to see him around the rucks and mauls playing like a six."

  10. Penaltypublished at 5 mins

Webber finds Wood at the line-out inside England's 22, Wigglesworth clears and Spedding runs it back. Picamoles with good hands and here comes Szarzewski... it's all France in the early stages, here comes centre Dumoulin after more sweet hands by Picamoles, who looks bright as a button... here he is again, making ground, Dulin eventually kicks too long - but they'll go back for a penalty...

"England have been defending really well so France have only had the option to kick. The French kicking game has been equal to England's defence."

  12. England 0-0 Francepublished at 2 mins

It's no try, May got his hand on the ball ahead of opposite number Guitoune...

  13. Kick-offpublished at 1 min

Right, the referee's shrill whistle explodes and it's France - in red?! - to kick-off. Wigglesworth finds touch, Picamoles takes a quick one... big hit by Burgess on Szarzewski, his first act in an England shirt... France keep the ball, Lamerat kicks through and it's a foot race between May and Guitoune - both men go for the ball and it goes upstairs...

Tom Wood leading England out in the absence of Chris Robshaw and it's a packed Twickenham that greets them. What a moment for Sam Burgess on debut - he played a fair few games for England in rugby league, but he won't have experienced pressure like this, with a World Cup place on the line. Here's the anthems...

No Thierry Dusautoir today for France, the French captain has his not inconsiderable feet up, which means hooker Dimitri Szarzewski will lead the visitors. Montpellier fly-half Francois Trinh-Duc starts his first international in over two years as he earns his 50th cap in France's 100th Test against England.

  20. Morgan returnspublished at 19:50 British Summer Time 15 August 2015

Another England player desperate to make an impression today is number eight Ben Morgan, back in the side after breaking an ankle in January. Chances are the Gloucester man, England's player of the 2014 autumn internationals, will have only 45 minutes to prove he's in the requisite nick to do a job at the World Cup, so expect some typical bursts around the fringes and from deep.
