Jackson's been good for Scotland today, particularly as he's a 10 playing at full-back. A few nice breaks from the Wasps man. Scotland have a penalty in their half, they stick it out on the Ireland 22 for one last go.

Talking of good full-back performances, Zebo meanwhile is hobbling off.

I don't think we really need to see Ireland winning by nine points, I'd rather see them trying to go over for another try in the time remaining.

  3. Missed penaltypublished at 76 mins

    Ireland 28-22 Scotland

Madigan misses. Odd one that, as he's been superb all game and it's only slightly to the right of the posts. That's his first miss of the game and it gives Scotland a glimmer of hope.

  4. Ireland 28-22 Scotlandpublished at 74 mins

Scotland are absolutely humbled by this maul. David Denton is climbing over the top in a desperate attempt to do something, anything to stop it. That's a penalty for the Irish. There may have been a side entry too.

  5. Ireland 28-22 Scotlandpublished at 73 mins

There are defence coaches pulling their hair out up and down the land right now. Great fun for us though.

Ireland can turn the screw now as O'Brien's tackle forces a penalty that goes into the corner.

Madigan had that plan in his head all along and it was executed brilliantly, his kick took out two defenders because the flight was so perfect. The speed that Eoin Reddan is getting the ball away from the base of that ruck is causing havoc for the Scottish defenders.

    You're kidding me.

Madigan's kick to the corner is majestic and Fitzgerald does not have to break stride as he beats Hidalgo-Clyne to it and romps over.

Madigan converts - like there was any doubt.

If the World Cup is as good as this, I'm looking forward to it even more. Ireland are picking away on the Scotland 22 now

  9. Former Ireland prop Reggie Corrigan on BBC Radio Ulsterpublished at 18:29 British Summer Time 15 August 2015

I've really been made to eat my words - it was just terrible from Ireland. It was a missed touch, D'Arcy was left on his own in no-man's land, and next thing you know Scotland are back in the game from an error that could have been avoided.

It's all got a bit silly. But I'm not complaining.

Ireland back off Sean Lamont as he saunters forward and it's a slick inside pass to Peter Horne, who finishes from 30m.

Jackson is on kicking duty now - and it's straightforward for the full-back, who can usually be found at 10.

It was a good clear-out and quick ball, there were gaps around the fringe and Ireland identified them. And that was a really good example of what Simon Zebo can do when he's given the opportunity. I'd like to think Ireland can kick on from here and get a few more scores before the end of the game.

    That didn't last long.

Lovely try this. Dave Kearney, fresh off the bench, makes a superb break. It's quick out of the breakdown and Madigan hits the storming full-back Zebo who crosses.

  13. Penalty (Horne)published at 60 mins

    Ireland 14-15 Scotland

Peter Horne needed that, having missed a couple from the tee. It's not a tough one - pretty central - but you have to put them between the posts. Scotland lead.

Scotland are undeterred and they're plugging away in Irish territory. I wouldn't call it zippy, slick stuff though. Ireland win it back, but Fitzgerald concedes a penalty for not releasing.

  16. Ireland 14-12 Scotlandpublished at 57 mins

After all that there's the biggest cheer of the evening as Paul O'Connell comes off the bench. He's a popular boy around these parts.

That was very good patience from the Irish pack and a great set-up.The Irish players didn't panic when Scotland tried to collapse the line-out, got the squeeze on and waited for the door to open.

Converted try (Cronin, con Madigan)published at 55 mins

    Ireland 14-12 Scotland

Text book work from the line-out for Ireland. Nathan White takes it down and Sean Cronin sneaks around from the back of the maul to cross.

Ian Madigan hits a lovely conversion from the touchline.

  19. Ireland 7-12 Scotlandpublished at 54 mins

For the first time this half Ireland start to go through the phases. Ian Madigan wants a penalty for a knock-on. And he gets it.

    It goes to the corner.

  20. Ireland 7-12 Scotlandpublished at 53 mins

We've just seen a replay of Zebo's tackle on Visser which stopped the wing in his tracks. I thought he got hand to boot - it's actually a trip. The Ireland full-back has got away with one.
