Anthony Watson beats a couple of defenders with a zig-zag run down the wing... Owen Farrell with a kick over the Welsh defence but Liam Williams' is covering. Iffy kicking from those in red, though.

The men in white looking dangerous with ball in hand. Mike Brown to Anthony Watson, the winger chips ahead and Gareth Davies has no option but to sweep up the danger and slide into touch. England with a line-out in the Welsh 22.

  2. England 0-3 Walespublished at 6 min

Another toot of the referee's whistle in Wales' favour. England holding on. First glimpse of the Welsh scrum. Gethin Jenkins struggled in this contest at the Millennium Stadium - how will Wales' most capped forward fare here? Not well The men in red cede possession. Jenkins penalised for binding and that could be telling. Wales were in prime position.

England with a first sniff in Welsh territory. Decibels rise as Jonny May makes inroads down the wing... Ben Youngs chips ahead but Dan Biggar reads the scrum-half's mind.

Wales boot into England's 22... Sam Burgess picks up and, oh my word, an ugly kick from the centre.

It is such a crucial area of the game, the goal kicking. Leigh Halfpenny has been so pivotal for Wales for many years, but Dan Biggar's kicking in provincial rugby is superb.

Prince Harry of, erm, Wales standing for the Welsh national anthem but cross armed and unmoved... He's nailed his colours firmly with Stuart Lancaster's men

In contrast, you could generate enough electricity to power a small island so passionate is Alun Wyn Jones’s rendition of his nation’s anthem. Rousing stuff. A minute or so to go. Deep breaths.

Lights have dimmed inside Twickehnam. Strobe lighting turning it into a nightclub. There's a choir on the pitch, waiting for their cue, while the two teams are being a final rousing talk by their captains. Goosebumps.

"So many individual battles within the overall contest: skipper against skipper in Chris Robshaw and Sam Warburton; fly-halfs Dan Biggar and Owen Farrell fighting for control and territory; Dan Cole vs Gethin Jenkins up front; battering-ram against cow-catcher in Jamie Roberts and Sam Burgess."

  19. Gatland springing surprisespublished at 19:50

    England v Wales (20:00 BST)

While Sam Burgess is inexperienced at centre, Wales have a man at scrum-half making only his second start for his country.

Another international rookie selected by Gatland is Hallam Amos, who is preferred to Alex Cuthbert on the wing. The tried and trusted back-row trio of Sam Warburton, Dan Lydiate and Taulupe Faletau means Justin Tipuric will have to settle for making an impact from the bench.

The New Zealander's selection has also raised a few eyebrows.

Another key battle will be between the two captains, and here's how they compared on the opening weekend.

Robshaw will be breaking Martin Johnson's record for most appearances as England captain. More important to the flanker, though, will be to outshine the captain at the other end of the scrum tonight.
