Speaking of BBC Radio 5 live, our chief sports writer Tom Fordyce has just used the phrase "as keen as Gustard" in homage to England defence coach Paul on their programming.

I bow down to our king punner.

I'm sure you're very much enjoying reading words about rugby.

But I bet you'd love to hear words about rugby. Am I right?

  5. How it standspublished at 13:45

    Italy v England (14:00 GMT)

There was a lot of attritional rugby yesterday, particularly between France and Ireland, where the hosts won in Paris.

And Wales unleashed some late fireworks to undo plucky Scotland.

A win for England this afternoon and they will go top.

  7. 'We've never beaten England'published at 13:40

So, with those facts in mind, how do Italy go about today's job?

Italy head coach Jacques Brunel: "We've never beaten England and in the last two games we conceded between 40 and 50 points.

"The goal is to still be in the game at the 60th or 70th minute. If we manage that, it can change things."

  8. Twenty-one not out...published at 13:36

    Italy v England (14:00 GMT)

England and Italy have faced each other 21 times.

England have won 21 of those meetings.

That means Italy have won none.

And there have been no draws.

But you probably worked that out after the first sentence.

  9. Can England gain control early?published at 13:32

    Italy v England (14:00 GMT)

    Paul Grayson
Former England fly-half on BBC Radio 5 live

"This Italian pack does not roll over. Too many times the English go to Rome expecting to take Italy apart but the Italians are too dogged and confrontational for that, especially early on. England will look to take the game in the last 20 minutes or so."

"Eddie Jones knows it is early days but you have to have boundless ambition, especially at the start of a new age."

He's not one to beat about the bush is he, our Eddie?

"We want to go there and smack Italy."

"...go out there and give Italy a good hiding."

Strong stuff, and a wake-up call after the more pragmatic, steady style of Stuart Lancaster.

Asked this week why he hadn't put more untried talent into his XV, Jones replied: "You don't throw something in the swimming pool if you don't know if it can swim."

Hard nosed? Yes. Refreshing? I'd say so.

Anyway, enough of the luvvie duvvie stuff.

Eddie Jones has made three changes from the side that won in Edinburgh last week.

Mako Vunipola, he of wonderful sleight of hand, is in at prop, while Courtney Lawes comes into the second row. And there's a change at scrum-half as Ben Youngs replaces Danny Care.

The Joes Launchbury and Marler are the remaining two to miss out and, like Care, are on the bench.

  17. It must be love...published at 13:00

    Italy v England (14:00 GMT)

    Ciao bella!

    Come stai?

That's all my Italian exhausted within seven seconds. Apologies.

But I hope it got you in the mood on this wonderful Valentine's Day.

Nothing says romance like a blood and thunder Six Nations clash in this city of love.

Although a bit of the lustre has been removed by Eddie Jones's assertion that he wants England to "smack" Italy... That's more 50 Shades of Grey than the Red Rose against the Azzurri.
