  1. 'England's best 40 minutes'published at 16:55 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2017

    England 30-7 Scotland

    Tom Fordyce
    Chief sports writer at Twickenham

After the worst first half of the Jones regime a fortnight ago against Italy, this has been England's best opening 40 minutes - wave after wave of devastating attacks, dominant at the set-piece, three coruscating tries and Farrell - an injury doubt before this game - with 15 points from his right boot.

With their powerful finishers still to warm up, Scotland without Hogg and Bennett and scrum-half Price on the wing, the second half could bring white-shirted carnage.

England have been lucky, they said. England haven't clicked yet, they said. Now they have.

England score 30 points or more in the first half of a Five/Six Nations game for the sixth time, and the first time since 2011.

Maro Itoje - usually a cool customer - has taken some serious offence at something that Scotland captain John Barclay has done or said.

A big shove on the Scotland flanker before tempers cool.

Owen Farrell is going to end the half with a mammoth penalty shot from 50m plus...

Ralph Brooker:  Scotland are going to have to do a Barcelona!

Would that be the greatest ever sporting comeback?

Another blistering three-quarter move from Jonathan Joseph. The angles of running are just wonderful, There are so many options for George Ford.

There is no way a miracle can come. Scotland are so far off the pace, it has been a horror show for the Scotland team and their fans from the first minute.

The long wait for a win at Twickenham will continue. For a few years at least!

    England's homework has been perfect.

They've targeted Huw Jones all afternoon and Alex Dunbar's heels get sat on the floor.

That's the third time they've gone through those two players.

I'm not sure how to describe that.

Jonathan Joseph has come on a beautiful angle and Watson finished it like a steam train on the right-hand side.

Scotland's defence is looking hole-ier than a block of Swiss cheese.

Jonathan Joseph, once again, is the man to worm through, set free by a lovely delayed pass from Owen Farrell and a blizzard of decoy runners.

Anthony Watson is steaming up on his Bath team-mate's outside and it is a simple fix-and-give to put him in.

    Farrell converts.

Perhaps over-eager under the scoreboard pressure, Fraser Brown has a nibble too many when he is off his feet.

    Farrell nudges downfield.

England are making all the metres. The home side have racked up 216 compared to just 62 by the visitors.

Unsurprisingly that means the top six individual metre-makers are all English, led by two-try hero Jonathan Joseph.

Stuart Hogg (14) has made the most ground for Scotland. And he's been off the pitch for 15 minutes...
