Right in front of me Nathan Hines was pointing to the corner.

That call came from the guys off the pitch and it's paid off.

Fair play to Scotland. They had conviciton in their own minds that they were able to score a try from there. I thought they should have kicked the penalty.

We haven't looked anywhere near like scoring any points but 20-7 suddenly sounds much better.

Hope for Scotland?published at 16:39 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2017

    England 20-7 Scotland

    Scotland's gamble pays off.

The line-out lands, Scotland splinter off towards the line and are hauled down just short.

Prop Gordon Reid picks and goes, trucking through the tackles of Ben Youngs and James Haskell with a low, low body angle.

    England 20-0 Scotland

Scotland are already have to shove their chips on the table.

A straightforward penalty shot from right in front and they opt for the kick to the corner instead...

Eddie Jones will be a wee bit happier won't he? A wonderful try, great options for the man on the ball. It reminded me of Jeremy Guscott at his peak.

Scotland are out on their feet.

    World class.

Jonathan Joseph knew he had to step up today, a few people starting to doubt him,

But when England are playing with this pace and accuracy, there is no-one who will get close to Joseph on the front foot.

He's beaten three or four men and they've not touched him!

Converted try - Joseph slices throughpublished at 16:35 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2017

    England 20-0 Scotland (con Farrell)

    Delightful.

Jonathan Joseph's England future was called into a bit of doubt after he was left out of the squad for the Italy game.

    No longer.

The Bath centre slices clean through the Scotland defence with a wonderful gliding run and is in under the sticks.

Another two points is a formality for Owen Farrell and Scotland are deep in the do-do.

  11. Hogg out of the gamepublished at 16:33 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2017

A big dent in Scotland's hopes.

Stuart Hogg will not be returning after his head injury assessment.

I've just had it confirmed that Stuart Hogg will not return - he has failed the HIA assessment.

    England 13-0 Scotland

    Gavin Hastings
Former Scotland full-back on BBC Radio 5 live

England are being dragged down to Scotland's level. Apart from a few Italy performances this is way down on the level of the rest of the Six Nations.

Primarily because Scotland have just not turned up.

    Tom Fordyce

Hellish half for Scotland - man to sin-bin in second minute, try conceded third minute, best player off with head injury, his replacement carried off, scrum-half to wing, fly-half throwing Hail Mary passes on his own line, 20 points down with majority of match still to come."

The video official has spotted a neck roll clearout from England captain Dylan Hartley.

It was a little more like a wrestling move.

John Barclay is fine however. Penalty to Scotland to clear their lines from inside their 22m.

  16. Replacementpublished at 21 mins

    England 13-0 Scotland

    More injury woe for Scotland.

Mark Bennett - on in place of Stuart Hogg while he has a head injury assessment - has turned his ankle as he attempts a side-step.

That is his game done. He trundles off on the wagon and scrum-half Henry Pyrgos - a specialist scrum-half - is on to fill the hole on the wing.

Pre-match the Scots were talking about creating chaos.

They did mean for England and not for themselves didn't they?

What are they doing trying to run out of their own 22?

Boom the ball upfield and get yourselves back into position.

Scotland have managed to wrestle the ball back from England in the past 10 minutes. However, the problem is most of that possession has been in their own 22.

This is suicide rugby! Jonathan Joseph was coming straight on to the ball, he wasn't far away from grabbing it and scoring.

That is suicide rugby. You've got to claw your way back into the game, chip away and get some points.

If that was another seven points we may as well pack up and go home.
