How deflating for Italy is that?

They have all that pressure for the first 15 minutes, but Scotland get up the other end and score.

This has been Italy's problem throughout the Six Nations. They have made opportunities, but not been able to score.

When they get into their own half they concede so cheaply.

  3. Visser scores Scotland's third trypublished at 61 mins

    Scotland 22-0 Italy

    Nothing wrong with that.

Tim Visser was behind Stuart Hogg as the Scotland full-back cannily chipped over the top of the Italy defence out wide.

The grounding was good as the ball ran free amid a mess of chasing limbs.

And Finn Russell lands the tricky conversion for good measure.

That is surely the game. The fourth try for the bonus point is the next target.

Tim Visser is over, but was the ball knocked on as the Scotland wing chased through onto Stuart Hogg's chip?

Matt Kerr:  I think it's time for relegation from the 6 nations. Italy are just awful.

    Andy Nicol
Former Scotland international on BBC One

Scotland have managed that 10 minutes very well. They've not conceded anything, probably down to Italy's inadequacy in attack.

Scotland have a lot more variety in attack, Finn Russell has options, he has runners and even puts a little kick in.

Italy are very predictable in attack.

  9. Postpublished at 58 mins

    Scotland 15-0 Italy

Scotland cannot make the field position pay.

    Italy counter. And kick downfield.

Gathered by Stuart Hogg for Scotland. He has a dart. And is well scragged by the Italian chase.

    This sums up Italy's season.

The first 15 minutes they put pressure on and have been close to the line, but the first time Scotland get in their half they give a penalty away.

  11. Postpublished at 57 mins

    Scotland 15-0 Italy

Italy give away a needless penalty just inside their own half.

Finn Russell rifles a kick into the corner.

Tim Swinson is on in place of Grant Gilchrist as Scotland try and show Italy how it is done with a line-out five out.

  12. Replacementpublished at 55 mins

    Scotland 15-0 Italy

Scotland loose-head prop Gordon Reid trots off to be replaced by Allan Dell.

  13. Postpublished at 55 mins

    Scotland 15-0 Italy

Still another five minutes until Scotland captain John Barclay is released from his touchline cage.

He is missing a scrappy old passage of play.

Italy's attacking is headless and Scotland's ragged defensive line has contained it.

Nick Hughes:  Only Italy could lose that try. All forwards, awful passing from average backs. No development from them in years.

  16. 'Scottish forwards formidable'published at 13:50 Greenwich Mean Time 18 March 2017

    Scotland 15-0 Italy

    Andy Robinson
Former Scotland head coach on BBC One

The work of the Scottish forwards is formidable, you are now seeing what a team Scotland are.

Working hard for each other, getting off the floor. To defend that close to the line is sensational.

  17. Italy butcher another chancepublished at 52 mins

    Scotland 15-0 Italy

    Nope!

Scotland - a man down - survive through a mix of spirit and Italian cack-handedness.

Angelo Esposito is tackled on the brink of scoring by Stuart Hogg and Italy full-back Edoardo Padovani spills forwards as he attempts to gather the ball with the line at his mercy.

  18. Postpublished at 51 mins

  20. Sin-bin for Barclaypublished at 49 mins

Scotland captain John Barclay was warned by the referee that the next infringement by his side would be a sin-binning.

Maybe he decides to take one for the team.

Either way he cynically drags the maul south and is going to have a 10-minute sit-down.
