That almost sums up Italy so far, it was all forward power and then when it had to go wide they didn't have the drive, accuracy or the power.

Fair play to Stuart Hogg for holding him up, but that had to be a try all day long.

Two poor passes took the pace out of it. It was good defence from Scotland to stop it.

Scotland kicked very well in the first half, but there have been a couple of poor ones to start the second half.

For Italy, Carlo Canna has got no confidence whatsoever.

Whether it is his shaky confidence or a belief in his forwards' muscle, he opts for the corner instead.

Like the first half, it's a slow start.

A couple of errors, both sides trying to kick the ball and trying to get territory.

The ball escapes Stuart Hogg's clutches as the Scotland full-back takes to the skies.

Scotland regather, but are pressed back on their own line.

Hogg's clearance kick, under some pressure, squirts out of play, but fails to get the hosts out of their own 22m.

Not a good half for Italy's Carlo Canna, who failed to convert any of Italy's three penalty attempts in the first half.

With Scotland on top in the possession stakes and on the scoreboard, it's Italy who have had to make the more tackles in that first-half - 59 to Scotland's 45.

Forwards Andrea Lovotti and Maxime Mbanda and half-back pairing Edoardo Gori and Carlo Canna lead the way with seven.

But, crucially, the visitors have missed 10 tackles to the hosts' three.

The better play almost coincided with the rain lifting. Scotland getting that extra pass - that definitely helped.

The opening 10/15 minutes was slow, the scrum took a while, the line-out took a while and the kicking was sloppy.

It's been a fairly good half for Scotland, they have got two tries and played pretty well.

They've got the players to just spark it and they need to do more of that.

I think Vern Cotter will be happy with that.
