  4. 'We are at the outset of something here'published at 16:19 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2017

    Italy 7-33 Wales

Italy head coach Conor O'Shea: People will say "it was the same old Italy" - challenge for 50 minutes and then lose the legs but I feel we got on the wrong end of the referee.

I thought defensively we were brilliant and there was a massive moment on their line at the end where we almost came away with something.

We have to go away and look at ourselves as we didn't execute well but had plenty of opportunity to take something from that game.

I think it will take time to change perceptions but we are at the outset of something here. We have to refocus very quickly and be realistic about where we are.

We have six days to get over a few bangs and bruises and be ready for Ireland.

  5. How it stands...published at 16:16 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2017

Well, Wales may have started poorly in Rome, but that win sends them to the top of the Six Nations table after the opening weekend.

Wins for Scotland and England on Saturday mean they complete the top three...

...and that sends France, Ireland and Italy into the bottom spots.

Check out the full table here.

Wales winger George North: "We knew it was going to be a tight game. We showed we fought right to the end and are happy with the performance in the end.

"We always knew we were playing a passionate team that would front up. The mismatches came and then we took them well.

"Unfortunately we lost Bigs to an injury and Sam Davies came on and showed the form he has had for the Ospreys."

As expected it was a tough game and a brutal first 60 minutes. They absorbed that and then went on to score a couple of great tries and win comfortably.

There were a few problems - namely the slow ball movement but by the end the Italians didn't have enough.

Huge improvements are needed ahead of England next week, as I said with the speed of the ball.

Overall, it was a good win but they need to up their game by next week.

Wales full-back Leigh Halfpenny: We knew it was going to be tough coming here today and we know the quality Italy have.

The conditions in the first half didn't make it easy and we didnt start the way we wanted to.

We regrouped and picked it up in the second half and then started causing Italy problems.

    Italy 7-33 Wales

Wales will be waiting on their medical staff for some important updates this evening.

As well as Dan Biggar - switched at half-time after copping a blow to the ribs - George North looked like he did some damage to his dicky hamstring in running in that third try and Alun Wyn Jones's shoulder was also a problem.

It was a committed effort, as you would expect from Italy, but the second half was about Wales' composure.

They start to build themselves back into the game and in the end Wales had too much quality.

Very impressed with the 40 minutes Sam Davies had, just to show his ability, he was very comfortable ball in hand and brought players onto the ball, into the game - fantastic work.

It's all about the result. They came so, so close to getting that bonus point.

As expoected they cut loose after 60 minutes but they will HAVE to pick their game up offensively and defensively against England.
