Wales needed that. After a very good opening they have been under the cosh. Italy have certainly grown in confidence as the game has gone on.

To get some points on the board before half-time is a confidence boost for Wales.

    Italy 7-0 Wales

Italy have lost a man. Second row Marco Fuser is heading off after a blow to the head. On comes Josh Furno.

Leigh Halfpenny has just put a contact lens back in place and is going to kick for the posts.

Just outside the 22m, off to the right, but the angle is not too sharp.

    Should be meat and drink.

To all scrum-halfs - shut your mouth and get on with the game.

Italy head coach Conor O'Shea will be very happy with the way things are going at the moment.

Wales haven't got that inspirational figure that can make things happen from nothing. Sergio Parisse missed the last game but has come back and been dominant with ball in hand for Italy and responsible with his defensive duties.

The reality is Italy are very comfortable. They are making tackles three yards or so from the breakdown - easy tackles to make.

    Italy 7-0 Wales

Wales are knocking on the door, just outside the Italy 22m.

Penalty for Wales as an Italian fails to roll away.

One to kick or stick to the corner?

Six minutes left of the half.

While Alun Wyn Jones mulls that over, Rhys Webb gets a warning for his incessant appealing and Dan Biggar gets a spray on his ribs after a heavy tackle.

Never mind stereotypical Latin flair, there are some coolly calculated percentages being worked by Italy.

Sergio Parisse rumbles into midfield setting up a platform for Luke McLean to hoof deep downfield.

The home side have absorbed a lot of the Welsh pressure and responded brilliantly.

Italy will grow in confidence knowing they have the tools to damage the opposition.

The quality of Sergio Parisse set up the maul initially. They probably deserve it after the last 10 or 15 minutes.

Parisse, what absolutely gorgeous skills from the number eight with the inside ball. It was good work. The Italians will be very happy with this.

Wales want to get the bonus points, but ultimately you have to win the game first and now it is Italy with the momentum.

    Edoardo Gori (con Canna)

Italy have made their pressure tell, while Wales failed to capitalise on their own time in the red zone.

Scrum-half Edoardo Gori emerges from the depths of a bundle of Italian limbs to claim the try.

Carlo Canna adds the extras and Wales are in a dogfight of a match.

Sergio Parisse picks and goes and slips a wonderful sleight-of-hand ball inside to flanker Abraham Steyn.

    Wonderful skill.

    Italy just short.

    Wales head south. Penalty Italy.

Sergio Parisse calls the packs back together for another scrum.

The hosts think they have the upper hand in this part of the game. And they are probably right.

    Here we go. Set, engage.

Worrying signs for Wales at the scrum - they got shoved off the ball there and the Italians managed to scramble free.

It would be a different story had it not been for that try saving tackle from George North.

That Italian attack all came from a fantastic scrum against the head.

Sergio Parisse makes the right decision and almost got across, I think Wales did well and George North came across to stem what looked a certain try.

Parisse is a fantastic player, when you consider he's been part of a poor side for so long, at 33 years of age he is still performing as well as this.

Wales scrum in a tailspin, the ball comes trundling back to the hands of Sergio Parisse.

Pick and go from the Italy number eight, who ships to Edoardo Gori and then grabs the loose ball as George North dislodges the pill with a cover tackle.

He pirouttes and piledrives towards the line. Just short.

But it is scrum-down Italy five metres out...

Both teams are playing the conditions as well as they can.

They don't want to make mistakes, just get the ball in opposition territory and hope a poor kick or a knock-on will give them the possession where they want it.
