Fly-half Finn Russell has that ability to do something.

It might not necessarily be him making the breaks all the time, but he is always creating. That is a key part of the Scottish game.

Winger Tim Visser didn't make the 23-man Scotland squad for the trip to Paris, but he'll be cheering on his team, presumably with the rest of Scotland, in front of a TV back home.

The style that the French play in the Top 14 is a bit different to how the national team operate, but generally I don't think that they are that unfit.

There is more cohesion for France now compared to the match between these sides last year which Scotland won 29-18 at Murrayfield.

Flanker John Barclay comes in to the back-row for the injured Ryan Wilson as Scotland seek their first win over France in Paris since 1999.

Full-back Stuart Hogg will earn his 50th cap and, at 24, becomes the youngest Scotland player to do so.

Hooker Fraser Brown retains his place despite an eye injury against Ireland.

Guy Noves makes one change to the France team that lost to England last week, with flanker Loann Goujon coming into the back-row for Damien Chouly.

Scotland head coach Vern Cotter speaking on BBC One:

"France will be throwing everything at us. We've got to play smart, execute well and push back on them. It's going to be tough.

"We'll try and work harder than them, we'll try and get the wind out their sails with some smart kicking.

"We want to keep the game close going into the last 20 minutes and put pressure on France with our work rate and some smart plays."

  9. Prime cuts of Hoggpublished at 14:45 Greenwich Mean Time 12 February 2017

    France v Scotland (15:00 GMT)

It is five years to the day that Stuart Hogg made his Six Nations debut against Wales.

That is all the excuse we needed to throw together this video of the full-backs nine scores so far in the tournament.

None of those are my favourite Hogg score however.

S.A.Richardson: The old alliance is on hold today. Come on Scotland!

Karl Carroll: Scotland all the way. Always the Irish mans next team to support after the Irish.

Paul Storey: Really intrigued by this game. France were good last week and Scotland are massively improved in the last 12 months.

So that's an Englishman and an Irishman supporting Scotland... and a neutral. We're all set.

  12. 'Best friends, playing together' - Scotland's School of Rugbypublished at 14:42 Greenwich Mean Time 12 February 2017

    #getinspired

Scottish rugby is on a high right now, with success for Glasgow in Europe and a stirring start to the Six Nations last weekend.

A tough test awaits today - the Scots last won in Paris in 1999 - but whatever the outcome, those in charge know it's from the grassroots that recent gains will be sustained.

Scottish Rugby's head of youth Colin Thomson and development officer Colin Sturgeon explain how they are getting boys and girls involved in rugby union with their 'School of Rugby' programme.

At St Andrew's in east Glasgow, the coaches take 11 to 14-year-olds through drills and skills and tell us why a structured fixture list can build confidence and retain children in the sport for life.

If you want to find out more about getting involved in rugby union, check out our Get Inspired guide.

Victory for Scotland today would carry them above South Africa and into sixth in the world rankings. That would be the highest they have ever been.

If it is by four points or more, they will also over-take England at the top of the Six Nations standings.

We started the game in 1999 really well, but we were surprised by the quality of the Scottish team.

If you don't play a really open game against Scotland then you know you can be punished; that is why we are worried about this game today.

    France v Scotland (15:00 GMT)

    gregor townsendImage source, Rex

Gregor Townsend - Glasgow coach and the Scotland head honcho-in-waiting - believes that Scotland can turn the Stade de France crowd on their team.

"The atmosphere can also turn on the French team if the opposition really have a go at them," Townsend said.

"The way the confidence is going through the Scotland team just now, I'm sure that's going to be the plan."

Townsend was pivotal to that 1999 victory in the French capital.
