It's official - Scotland duo Allan Dell and Finn Russell have been called up to join the Lions following Scotland's win over Australia earlier on Saturday.

They join four Welshman - Kristian Dacey, Tomas Francis, Cory Hill and Gareth Davies - who were added to the touring party earlier today.

If the Lions can bottle this gameplan, allied with all the other key ingredients needed in international rugby, they can win the Test series against New Zealand.

In saying all that, as impressive as tonight's victory was, you just know they'll have to be 10 or 20% better next weekend at least in order to win!

To win 32-10 against an emotional and very talented New Zealand Maori team is not to be underestimated. The Maori were not at their very best, but the Lions made them look that way. Roll on next Saturday!!!!

Lions coach Warren Gatland was impressed with his side's performance, but maintains there are still places to play for in the Test team.

"It was pretty good," Gatland told Sky Sports. "If you look at territory and possession we dominated things. A couple of stupid penalties in the first half, but we managed the game well and squeezed the life out of them.

"We've been guilty of putting ourselves under pressure but we got some go forward - even the try they scored was a lucky, speculative kick through.

"We're benefiting from the experience of playing the quality of sides we are."

There were so many positives from today - not just the effective gameplan but also many good individual performances. With the injury concern around Owen Farrell it was important for Johnny Sexton to step up today, and that he did.

The fly-half looked a threat with ball in hand, challenging the Maori defensive line, and he showed lovely distribution and a strong kicking game. Sexton was not alone though.

Open-side flanker Sean O'Brien was very good again, giving Warren Gatland a selection headache ahead of the first Test - does captain Sam Warburton play ahead of the Irishman?

George Kruis was imperious in the line-out again, but offers so much more than that. Taulupe Faletau was busy and industrious, and Ben Te'o is nailed on to start at 12 in my opinion - he has made more line breaks than any other Lions player.

Leigh Halfpenny was superb from the tee and Conor Murray once again was just brilliant in the wet conditions. And then there was the powerful front row providing a penalty try. They were very impressive as a unit.

It was billed as the unofficial fourth Test, and it’s one the Lions ultimately passed with ease.

They may only have scored two tries, but they delivered a performance of controlled power that pummelled the Maori into submission.

The scrum proved a potent weapon – rewarding the Lions with a penalty try, and paving the way for Maro Itoje’s score.

The Maori had looked threatening in the first half, crossing for the game’s first try after a defensive error from George North allowed Liam Messam to dive over.

But they were kept scoreless in the second half, as the Lions tightened the vice - Sean O’Brien and Maro Itoje among a number of those furthering their Test claims.

Leigh Halfpenny was another – his 20 points giving the tourists the most comfortable of cushions on the scoreboard.

A win was imperative and a performance to be proud of was much needed. Thankfully the Lions produced both this morning with a record win against the New Zealand Maori.

The Saturday team is unbeaten on tour and today's performance will have given them a huge shot of belief a week before the first Test. The fundamentals and foundations of the gameplan for the Lions were there for everyone to see, namely All Blacks boss Steve Hansen, who was an interested spectator in the stands.

Physicality, set-piece, line-speed, workrate and a top-notch kicking game are the hallmarks of a strong Warren Gatland team, and this Lions are not going to deviate from what has brought him plenty of success before.

Jennifer Harris: Well done Lions. Looking more positive ahead of next weekend.

Andrew Priestly: George North's stock has been on the wane since the last Lions tour. It'll be very interesting to see of he is given a Test start.

England's Maro Itoje crossed for a try in the second half, and the talented lock says the Lions camp is getting stronger by the day.

"I feel as if we are improving every game," he said. "Our line-out and scrum are getting better. The team cohesion is getting tighter, getting stronger.

"The boys put an incredible amount of effort into the detail around the line-out - the work they do is top notch."

Here's a bit of reaction from Peter O'Mahony, who skippered the Lions today.

"A huge day for me personally and anyone who put any effort in in my family, dad arrived yesterday, so it was good timing - a huge honour to picked for the Lions but to captain them, I'm hugely proud," he told Sky Sports.

"I thought the scrum and line-out were good on both sides of the ball, we played the weather conditions well. It's starting to get very serious now."

That is very encouraging for the Lions.

Sam Warburton is told his side should be "very careful" or things will escalate.

It's a Maori All Blacks scrum and they have a little bit of momentum in these closing stages.

Good defence again from the Lions, though. They win the scrum - that forward pack has really earned its money today.

Can the Maori All Blacks put a marker on this game in the final few minutes? They're looking to put a marker on Dan Biggar and Sean O'Brien as a few tempers boil over.

It looks full-back James Lowe was involved for the hosts, and was there an elbow thrown somewhere in there?

The Lions would do well to not get caught up in that. Ben Te'o is still having his say, before he's dragged away. Smart move.

Anthony Watson picks and goes again but bounces off a Maori All Blacks-shaped wall.

Have the hosts snaffled that in the breakdown? No, it's knocked on. Greg Laidlaw gets the put in.

It's Scotland to Wales as Laidlaw flings a pass to Dan Biggar and eventually England's Elliot Daly has the ball in his grasp - good hands.
