The Rotorua International Stadium has fallen a little quiet, although that might be because of the pouring rain rather than the scoreboard...

And there goes Ben Te'o, soaring through a gap and desperately looking for support which eventually arrives in the shape of Greg Laidlaw after the hosts have regrouped.

The Lions still have it. But Leigh Halfpenny has to go to ground to take a sloppy pass.

Leigh Halfpenny, cool as you like, strokes another three points over to take the Lions beyond the 30 mark.

Ten minutes to go and they look to have a confidence-boosting win wrapped up. But we thought that in mid-week too...

Anthony Watson collects a pass and attempts to wriggle his way through a sea of black shirts from a standing start.

It's whisked along the line with Ken Owens and Taulupe Faletau joining the attack, forcing the Maori All Blacks to give away another penalty.

Sam Warburton on for the final quarter. Last chance to play his way into the Test team, or will Warren Gatland look to play him and the excellent Sean O'Brien in the same back row?

Megan Pierce: I don't really understand the surprise that Halfpenny can pull it out of the bag, has done it time and time again.

Danie Lewis: Surprised wingers George North and Anthony Watson haven't started reading a book.

Sam Warburton's first involvement is to be part of another powerful Lions scrum, but the All Blacks hold on bravely this time and win a turnover at the breakdown.

Damian McKenzie wants rid. The talented fly-half pumps that into touch.

More changes for the Lions - England's Kyle Sinckler getting some game time.

In extremely wet weather Lions fly-half Johnny Sexton has outfoxed the opposition and the conditions. He's been defensively astute throughout and going forward he has led by example.

If Sexton's the conductor then Conor Murray is the lead violinist - the Munster man has inspired the back line by adding constant pressure which has allowed those around him to flourish.

The Maori All Blacks are struggling to get out of their own 22 at the minute as the Lions continue to apply the pressure.

Another scrum five metres from the line sees Conor Murray go himself before being bundle over. That's a penalty, and the Lions opt for another put in.

Seventeen points and counting for Halfpenny, who’s surely done enough to secure his Test spot now. It was his dangerous scythe down the wing that led to Tawera Kerr-Barlow’s illegal tackle and yellow card. And the Lions took full advantage while the Maori nine was off the field.

It’s easy to forget how slick his core skills are too - he’s a master at drawing his man and releasing the pass.

Tawera Kerr-Barlow is back on the field as the Maori All Blacks return to full numbers.

How they've paid for that sin-bin...

The Lions are really clicking into gear up front and a rolling maul takes them inside the hosts' 22 before Conor Murray, Johnny Sexton and Ben Te'o work it through hands.

But that's dropped forward by Sean O'Brien.

After a first half tussle, the Lions are now well on top at scrum time, a good sign ahead of next week. You can just feel the energy sap out of the crowd here as the Lions take control.

It is now POURING down in Rotorua. The Lions pack won't mind that one bit. Maori looking a little crestfallen.

The Maori All Blacks must be sick of the sight of these five-metre scrums for the Lions - especially with their nine Tawera Kerr-Barlow off the field.

The Lions go blind from the base this time, Taulupe Faletau is held up but there's Maro Itoje on hand to pick up and smash over from a metre or so.

The Lions have started the second half as they started the game, with control, composure and power. As poor as some of the penalties the Lions have given away both in this game and on tour have been, the All Blacks must be aware of the threat that the Lions pack provides.

The world champions also won't be able to give away penalties 50m out as Leigh Halfpenny is metronomic from the tee. That means the driving maul game in the All Blacks 22 could be devastating.

The gameplan is a simple one and rightly so. It's a gameplan which thrives on territory, kicking and a strong set-piece. The line-out has been a point of difference so far this tour and now the scrum too, as shown by that pressure which brought the penalty try.

It looks like the sum of all parts are coming together at the right time!
