And Wales were the only northern hemisphere side to lose, coming a cropper to Australia.

But Scotland enjoyed a thrilling win against Samoa - a game which boasted 11 tries in total and Ireland thrashed South Africa in Dublin.

'Highlights' of England v Argentina are up now on BBC Two and online. But they will be worth it just to see Eddie Jones simmering on the sidelines.

So all Australians are full of praise for stadium, the atmosphere and the way Wales attacked the game in Cardiff.

But the consensus is the southern-hemisphere side got over the line due to their 'winning mentality'.

So close, yet again for Wales.

Australia head coach Michael Cheika speaking on BBC Two:

"It's such a great place to play rugby - the crowd, the stadium and the history. It makes you want to play footie.

"We just hung in there today. Wales played really well and were on the front foot from the first minute. We defended really well under difficult circumstances.

"The guys were up for it, they stopped a lot of short-range efforts from Wales but our winning-mentality helped us hang in there."

Tomorrow will be an off day. The coaches will be deep into the laptops. The guys will go home tonight and apart from a medical assessment, they'll have Sunday with their families and then get down to the analysis on Monday.

The next serious training day will be Tuesday.

You go into the team room and there's a big 60-inch TV with each player and all their statistics from the game.

There's no hiding place.

Johnny Sexton is announced as the man of the match over the Aviva tannoy.

He reacts with a raised eyebrow and a sly grin.

This is going to be Ireland's record win over South Africa. And by some margin.

The scoreline trumps a 32-15 win back in 2006.

Do Australia like coming to Cardiff? Here's what captain Michael Hooper has to say:

"I actually do and so does the team," he told BBC Two.

"It's a great place to play in front of a noisy crowd. It's never easy to win and play here. The Welsh took it to us but the boys dug deep.

"Obviously they've got new threats we haven't seen before. We're happy we could deal with those threats and get the win."

Five minutes left and Ireland are pushing for more.

A kick to the corner and the replacements want a pushover score of their own...

There is fabulous camaraderie around the Irish squad led by Bundee Aki. And it's all on the back of hard work and hard graft on the training field. Their defensive positions have been excellent today.

Joe Schmidt throws Darren Sweetnam into the mix in place of full-back Rob Kearney to big cheers from the crowd.

And Johnny Sexton gets a similar send-off as Joey Carbery trots on in his place.

"It was a great game to play and we knew they would look to move the ball. What a great atmosphere and good rugby to watch.

"There was a lot more ball movement from Wales today and they created chances in the second half. Without the dropped balls we would have been scrambling.

"For us its about creating that winning mindset. We played well in the first half and were forced to defend hard in the second but it's all about the mindset."

Kieran Marmion, John Ryan and James Ryan are on for the Lions trio of Conor Murray, Tadhg Furlong and Iain Henderson.

It's a loss, so I'm obviously disappointed but I'm really proud.

I thought in the second half Wales played some great rugby. When they go back over the analysis, apart from a freakish try by Kurtley Beale, we had most of the possession and territory.

I have been hugely disappointed in South Africa. They've had so much possession but I can't remember anything close to a line break. Ireland are in complete control all the way across the field.
