    Scotland 10-6 England

    Brian Moore
Former England hooker on BBC One

Scotland always want to drag England players in, so when they attack wide, there's fewer numbers to stop their backs. That's why the Scots have opted to take several scrums in succession here.

Scotland's forwards get another reality check as Simon Berghan is forced out the skylight at scrum time.

Penalty and that is a promising position gone begging...

    Matt Dawson
Former Lions and England scrum-half on BBC Radio 5 live

This is not Premiership rugby, this is not Pro14, this is an international and you have to make the most of the opportunities that come your way. Scotland won't get that many against a world-class side and they had one there to go for the drop-goal. Take your three points and walk away.

    Scotland 10-6 England

Maybe Scotland just got a little carried away by their own good start there.

Their forwards opt to carry the ball right into the belly of the England beast, going toe-to-toe with the tight five as they try and power up round the fringes.

There is just not enough meat on the bone to make that work. England's strapping number eight Nathan Hughes gets an arm in on the ball to strip it from Grant Gilchrist's grasp and force the knock-on.

Murrayfield as raucous as it's been for a long time in this oldest of fixtures - roars for each turnover as if another try has been scored, each big hit greeted by men jumping to their feet and punching the air.

Long way to go, but it's the start that Gregor Townsend dreamt of.

One area Scotland were tremendously good against France was in the scrum, and they've continued their form there today as well.

Scotland's scrum looks rock solids despite the pre-match fears.

Tommy Seymour on the charge, Jonny Gray picking and going.

Scotland up to within 15m of the England line.

  8. Scotland's attack on toppublished at 17:13 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2018

    Scotland 10-6 England

England are edging Scotland on the possession front, 53% to Scotland's 47%. But the visitors are kicking it away and inviting Scotland to counter-attack.

Gregor Townsend's side have made 152 metres to England's 98, have beaten seven defenders and made three clean line breaks.

Just the one try so far...

Huw Jones pounces on the bouncing ball as seven England players look on unable to do anything to stop the centre getting over the line.

England are kicking away a lot of possession, and it's inviting Scotland to counter attack them. But Anthony Watson does really well to stay on his feet and buy his teammates some time there, unfortunately for him, it wasn't quite long enough.

    Scotland inspired. England cowed.

The visitors are making the sort of mistakes that set off Eddie Jones' hair trigger.

A loose kick from Danny Care is run back by Finn Russell - who flips the pass wide to Huw Jones.

The centre chips ahead and sets off after his own kick like a hound from hell.

Anthony Watson does well as he fields the ball. But not well enough.

Lacking support, he gives away the scrum for holding on.

Scotland with the pill on the England 22m.

Courtney Lawes bashes up over halfway for England, but the ball back to Owen Farrell is scrappy.

The England centre kicks for field position.

Stuart Hogg replies and we are into the aerial ping-pong.

Until Tommy Seymour decides to take on responsibility, charging up into Anthony Watson.

Finn Russell is a class player, but hopefully every time he plays he learns something and improves, because he's far from the finished article.

Scotland are sticking to their game plan and are keeping the ball in the backs.

Fly-half Finn Russell, whose dinky little kick set up that Huw Jones try, is also the hosts' top ball carrier at the moment, with five. Full-back Stuart Hogg is just behind him on four, but he's made more metres with his runs (39).

  16. 'Daft penalty for Scotland to concede'published at 17:06 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2018

    Scotland 10-6 England

That really is a daft penalty for Scotland to concede - you've just scored a try - and you give three points back straight away. Totally unnecessary.

  17. Penalty - Scotland 10-6 Englandpublished at 17 mins

    Owen Farrell

A brain fade of a penalty as Grant Gilchrist blocks off Danny Care's attempted charge down.

Owen Farrell exacts full three-point punishment.

    Huw Jones (con Laidlaw)

    Murrayfield jumping....

Nigel Owens' arm popped up Scotland's way and England relaxed presuming Finn Russell would kick away possession and opt for the kick at goal.

    He didn't.

Instead the fly-half dabs a grubber kick though behind the defence, Huw Jones gives chase and the ball richochets off an England shin and into his hands.

The centre slides in under the posts and is engulfed by his team-mates. The conversion is a formality.
