  1. Replacement - Shields replaces Isiekwepublished at 36 mins

    South Africa 22-24 England

Brad Shields is on for his first England cap earlier than he would have thought, replacing Saracens debutant lock Nick Isiekwe.

There was slight controversy with Shields' inclusion in the squad - having played his rugby in New Zealand and also having never played in the Premiership.

Aside from that...England need to shuffle their pack...

I can't help but feel that in the last few minutes, playing at altitude, England have been woeful. Their lungs will be burning, it's a horrible feeling. And I can't believe I'm saying this - but England need to hold on.

Mark: What was that about collapse o'clock?? Shocking England defence...again.

Nicholas Waite: England's defence is abysmal. Eddie Jones has outstayed his welcome, I feel. We're porous, lack discipline and (worst of all) make the same mistakes time and again. Eddie Jones doesn't have a clue. We won't come close to winning the World Cup next year

Here it comes, England. South Africa's confidence has shifted - it's quantum leapt in the last few minutes.

Converted try - South Africa 22-24 England (Nkosi)published at 34 mins

    My word.

S'busiso Nkosi brings up the 44th point of the half. OF THE HALF!

This time the Sharks winger is on the right and is put in after a great offload on the line from Siya Kolisi.

    Handre Pollard converts.

    The gap is now two.

Rae: Total chaos with English game at the moment? Five minutes brilliant and then five minutes clueless, that's why they are going backward Mr Eddie Jones.

  7. 'Two silly mistakes from England'published at 16:41 British Summer Time 9 June 2018

    South Africa 15-24 England

    Matt Dawson
Former Lions and England scrum-half on BBC Radio 5 live

Two silly mistakes from England have let South Africa in - Maro Itoje for their first try, and Elliot Daly there. It's England's match to lose now, they've played incredibly well, but it's two really sloppy errors.

  8. 'Uncharacteristic error from Daly'published at 16:39 British Summer Time 9 June 2018

    South Africa 15-24 England

    Paul Grayson
Former Lions and England fly-half on BBC Radio 5 live

Incredible play from South Africa. Elliot Daly may have been better falling on the ball there rather than trying to scoop it up and take it with him out of touch - but it's an uncharacteristic error from him.

  9. try

Converted try - South Africa 15-24 England (Nkosi)published at 16:38 British Summer Time 9 June 2018

It's a low kick-and chase by S'busiso Nkosi into the left corner.

    This is Elliott Daly's surely?

Noooooo - the England man who got England off to such a great starts misses the ball altogether allowing Nkosi to get the vital touch for another SA try.

    Oh Elliott!

    It's converted.

    Game on.

  10. Postpublished at 29 mins

    South Africa 8-24 England

The crowd inside Ellis Park are getting a little bit frustrated with their team's handling so far.

Faf de Klerk tries to get things going from the right - the ball spreads from right to left.

The volume rises inside the stadium as the home side edge further forward...

Eddie Jones will be buzzing. Surely this will make up for the defeat by the Barbarians.

That result counts, doesn't it Eddie?

    South Africa knock on.

It's two handling errors apiece for both sides.

    England scrum.

I think a lot of fans owe Eddie Jones an apology, has stuck to his principles and it's rewarded him and those he put faith in.

We've had 32 points in the first 23 minutes.

    It's entertaining if anything.

Maro Itoje will be disappointed there - England looked well set defensively and he's been suckered in by Faf de Klerk who's finished it well.

    South Africa 8-24 England

    Paul Grayson

That's exactly what South Africa needed. Faf de Klerk was opportunistic there, and he finished it really well despite Ben Young's best efforts. It's been an electric start here.

    Now then.

Faf de Klerk hauls the home side back into the game.

Maro Itoje misses his tackle off the deck altogether allowing the Sale player to go over despite Ben Youngs' attempt to stop him.

    Handre Pollard misses the conversion.

An absolute walk-in for Owen Farrell under the posts - the South African defence is all at sea here. The South African's have just had a huddle under the posts - they've really had a word with themselves.

    Collapse o'clock.

George Ford the creator in midfield; Jonny May once again delivers the try-assist for Owen Farrell who runs in from the right.

    This is so, so easy.

Very unlike the superb defending shown by Australia earlier in the day.

    Farrell converts.
