    South Africa 10-12 England

Well after a first half that was really nothing to shout about, this Test has suddenly come to life since the break.

Willie le Roux is on for the hosts, and leaps high into the air to take a deep kick.

Faf de Klerk box-kicks forward, but Warrick Gelant is pulled up for offside.

Mark Ridgway: Feel sorry for both fly halfs, nice dry conditions last two weeks, brought in this week to play with a bar of soap.

Anon: Liking Tom Curry the more he plays, definitely can develop into that poacher role we so desperately need.

Keith Bracey: Why play Mike Brown on the wing? Christian Wade must be tearing his hair out at the lack of opportunities under Eddie Jones and the best number nine Dan Robson doesn't get a look in again! What's Jones have against him?

    Owen Farrell (49 mins)

Warrick Gelant, having just created that Springboks try with a superb grubber, dives over to give England the penalty.

Owen Farrell can put his side back into the lead immediately here.

Howls ring out in Cape Town, but it's a huge boot from Farrell that drops between the posts.

    The perfect response.

Nice creative kick for Jesse Kriel to score the try.

  5. converted try

Converted try - South Africa 10-9 Englandpublished at 17:11 British Summer Time 23 June 2018

    Jesse Kriel (46 mins)

Jesse Kriel gets South Africa moving and England back-pedaling.

The Boks keep it alive, and Warrick Gelant looks for the speedy Kriel again with a well-weighted boot between the line.

Kriel scuttles on to it, and touches down. Fantastic try.

Elton Jantjies adds the extras. Pressure, what pressure?

It is fair reward for a pack who are working well together. That's what you want your kicker to do after all that hard work.

  7. Schalk on for Springbokspublished at 44 mins

    South Africa 3-9 England

Massive applause at Newlands. Not for that England penalty, but because the legendary Schalk Brits has just been brought on to make his return to international rugby.

  8. Penalty - South Africa 3-9 Englandpublished at 43 mins

    Owen Farrell (43 mins)

Fair way out for Owen Farrell, a touch short of 40 metres and slightly left of the posts, but the right-footer nails his effort between the posts and England's lead is back to six points.

And they turn that into a penalty.

Kyle Sinckler is all smiles, as Owen Farrell gets a chance to split the sticks.

Surrey Pigeon: Lot better in terms of measured play from England, not getting ahead of themselves and able to keep the discipline.

So what do we reckon for this second half?

England to hold out and avoid a series whitewash? South Africa to step it up and claim another victory?

    South Africa 3-6 England

    Victor Matfield
Former South Africa captain on BBC Radio 5 live

I must say England deserve the lead after the first half. There has been more errors from South Africa. The England forwards are dominant and the nine and 10 are controlling the game better than South Africa.

Sick of the hype surrounding Mike Brown. He's so predictable. Runs into brick walls non stop and either doesn't know how to pass or doesn't want to.

England have been better, they just need to settle down when they get a turnover in the South Africa half and really put the squeeze on.
