    South Africa 0-0 England

South Africa gather the line-out this time and look to get the maul rolling towards the England line, as Chris Robshaw leads the visitors' resistance.

The hosts dink over the top but Jonny May is there to collect well and throws his hips one way and then the other to avoid some dark green shirts attempting to hunt him down.

Danny Cipriani pokes a grubber into touch, but England have the penalty 10 metres inside the South Africa half.

    Chance for Owen Farrell...

Again another silly penalty for England. On a day like this you are going to feel the scoreboard pressure. Discipline is going to play a big role today.

  6. Missed penaltypublished at 5 mins

    South Africa 0-0 England

Wide from the left boot of Elton Jantjies, and England survive an early scare.

Remarkably, Jantjies had a team-mate holding the ball in place with his finger tip - not seen that since I left school.

    South Africa 0-0 England

"Beasssstt" scream the Springboks fans as Tendai Mtawarira gets a touch early on, but he's hauled down by some already muddied white shirts.

The hosts are forced back from a line-out, but England concede the penalty and Elton Jantjies opts to go for the sticks.

    South Africa 0-0 England

A quick exchange of kicks and a sprinkling of dropped passes in the opening minutes.

It's like playing rugby in a bath at Newlands at the moment.

Eventually England get hands on it, Ben Youngs whips it out the back of a ruck and launches a box-kick down field.

  10. Kick-offpublished at 0 mins

    South Africa 0-0 England

Anthems done. Fireworks too... the Springboks strip off their tracksuit bottoms, England take their field positions and it'll be the hosts to get this one under way.

It's so wet out there the South African tribal dancers are sliding over while performing their pre-match routine. They lead the Springboks out, followed by the England team.

    It's nearly game time...

    Paul Grayson

England can't seem to find a way out of it at the moment, but today hopefully they can draw a line under it

They need to go after the South Africa back three. They need to kick the ball well and muscle up in defence.

One of the most dynamic players seen in Premiership history has come out of retirement to secure a place on South Africa's bench.

Schalk Brits, a hooker with the skills and step of a centre, had seemingly played his final game in Saracens' title-clinching triumph over Exeter last month until Springboks boss Rassie Erasmus persuaded him to shelve his plans.

Now the 37-year-old has been told that if he finds a new club, he could be involved in next year's World Cup

  18. 'Calmest guy on the field'published at 15:55 British Summer Time 23 June 2018

South Africa v England (16:05 BST)

But the emotion of a high-profile return to the England starting line-up will not be getting to Cipriani, who insists he'll be the "calmest guy on the field".

"My emotions are that I want to be the calmest guy on the field so that when international pressures come on, people can turn to me and understand that I'm thorough in what I'm doing," said Cipriani.

"I know that I must execute. That's what I've tried to be consistent with over the last couple of years. Eddie doesn't want to restrict anyone from being themselves.

"There are certain ways that he wants you to lead the team and you've got to do what's best for the team."

  19. 'Bus driver and conductor'published at 15:52 British Summer Time 23 June 2018

So, what does England boss Eddie Jones expect from the fly-half on his return?

"He has gone about his business, tried to improve his game, and he's been rewarded this week," said Jones.

"Cipriani is not a young boy, he's been around the block. He's a lot more mature than he was, so he'll be able to adjust.

"He doesn't have to impress, just do his job. He's got to be the bus driver and the conductor."
