  1. Van der Merwe repelledpublished at 21:11 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Ospreys 17-6 Edinburgh

Duhan van der Merwe flies off his wing and crashes into Sam Davies. The fly-half does really well to bring the massive South African down, and the ball is knocked on.

Edinburgh have really let themselves down in the key moments.

  2. Postpublished at 21:10 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Ospreys 17-6 Edinburgh

Richard Cockerill has pretty much emptied his bench. Kennedy, Van der Walt, McKenzie, Ritchie and Dell are all on.

  3. Postpublished at 21:09 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Ospreys 17-6 Edinburgh

Losing by seven points or less would net Edinburgh a losing bonus point. They've got a line-out inside the Ospreys 22 now.

  4. Ospreys prey on Edinburgh errorpublished at 21:09 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Ospreys 17-6 Edinburgh

    Peter Wright
Former Scotland prop on BBC Radio Scotland

It's a great counter-attack from Edinburgh and then Henry Pyrgos just drops the ball. It's then just put through the hands and George North is up against Luke Hamilton. It's probably the easiest try he'll ever score.

  5. Edinburgh self-harm and Ospreys pouncepublished at 21:09 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Ospreys 17-6 Edinburgh

    Tom English
    BBC Scotland's chief sports writer

Edinburgh have got themselves into good field position repeatedly in this second half - largely through the carrying of Hamish Watson and Bill Mata - but they are getting destroyed at the major breakdowns and that lack of accuracy is going to cost them the match.

George North runs the length after another crass Edinburgh error in attack. Two tries for the great man. And surely a knockout blow for Edinburgh. Really poor stuff. Richard Cockerill’s team have created a mountain of problems for themselves tonight.

  6. converted try

Converted try Ospreys 17-6 Edinburghpublished at 21:08 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Sam Davies

Davies pops over the conversion and Ospreys wedge themselves firmly in the driving seat. Edinburgh have 10 minutes to overturn a 13-point deficit.

  7. try

Try Ospreys 15-6 Edinburghpublished at 21:07 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    George North

Chaos. Utter chaos. George North gets his second try of the evening and surely settles this game for Ospreys.

Scott Williams lacerates the Edinburgh line but his pass is intercepted by Viliame Mata. Edinburgh race away to the home 22, then they cough up possession.

North found himself with yard upon yard of space up the right, and Luke Hamilton was never going to catch him in a foot race. The big winger canters all the way home from 70m.

  8. Postpublished at 21:04 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Ospreys 10-6 Edinburgh

Nope, it's another maddening error from the visitors. The ball is knocked on at the base of a ruck.

Ospreys did well to regroup and keep Edinburgh at bay. Their reward is a scrum about 15m from the try-line.

  9. Watson on the rampagepublished at 21:02 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Ospreys 10-6 Edinburgh

Hamish Watson steamrolls a defender and thunders his way into the Ospreys 22. Can Edinburgh strike back?

  10. Edinburgh on the rackpublished at 21:01 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Ospreys 10-6 Edinburgh

That North try has imbued the Ospreys with so much energy and Edinburgh are really up against it.

Scott Williams keeps the visitors penned in their own 22 with a grubber kick to the corner. Edinburgh win the line-out, and Henry Pyrgos' kick is half-charged down on its way out. Breathing space for Richard Cockerill's men.

  11. It could have been two...published at 20:59 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Ospreys 10-6 Edinburgh

Glorious chance for Ospreys to bag a second try. It's all about George North again, as the giant Lions winger breaks up the right.

The ball is swept to the opposite flank, and Ospreys have numbers. The pass is wayward, though, and flies over the touchline.

You don't see the great Alun Wyn Jones throw too many of those...

  12. Kinghorn 'done like a kipper'published at 20:58 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Ospreys 10-6 Edinburgh

    Peter Wright
Former Scotland prop on BBC Radio Scotland

There's good numbers in the Edinburgh defence but Blair Kinghorn gets done like a kipper. Van der Merwe doesn't do enough either for me. It's two great steps from North though, he's world-class.

  13. converted try

Converted try Ospreys 10-6 Edinburghpublished at 20:57 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Sam Davies

Sam Davies knocks over the extras and Ospreys are in command with 20 minutes to play.

  14. try

Try Ospreys 8-6 Edinburghpublished at 20:55 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    George North

George North, the Ospreys game-breaker, scores a sumptuous score on his debut.

He breezes inside Blair Kinghorn, who gets completely done by the sidestep, then another powerful step off his right-foot beats the cover defence.

Cracking finish, but soft from an Edinburgh point of view.

  15. Ospreys turning the screwpublished at 20:55 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Ospreys 3-6 Edinburgh

The momentum swings back Ospreys' way, they sweep downfield and Blair Kinghorn has to boot Scott Williams' grubber into touch five metres from the Edinburgh line.

I wonder if the full-back had time to fall on that ball rather than concede the line-out.

  16. Veteran Ford emergespublished at 20:53 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Ospreys 3-6 Edinburgh

As Simon Hickey kicked that penalty, Scotland's most-capped male player Ross Ford replaces captain Stuart McInally at hooker.

His first - highly unenviable task - is tackling George North on the rampage.

  17. Penalty Ospreys 3-6 Edinburghpublished at 20:51 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Simon Hickey

Hickey slots the straightforward goal-kick. Not the seven points Edinburgh might feel they merited, but they have the lead once more.

  18. Held up...published at 20:51 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Ospreys 3-3 Edinburgh

That was excellent stuff from Edinburgh. No-frills, pick-and-go round the fringes, and they come so close to the opening try. McCallum is the man who gets over the whitewawsh, but he's on his back, and the ball is held up. Back we come for a penalty.

  19. Can Edinburgh finish?published at 20:50 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Ospreys 3-3 Edinburgh

This is more like it. Quick, dynamic ball from Edinburgh. Schoeman rumbles forward. Toolis carries on. Then it's Murray McCallum, and suddenly Edinburgh have thundered their way to within five metres of the try-line.

  20. Where is the spark?published at 20:49 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Ospreys 3-3 Edinburgh

The grind continues. More bashing, more kicking, more errors, more penalties.

There are so many brilliant players on the field but this game has been awful.

Let's have some expansive rugby, please!
