    Ospreys 3-3 Edinburgh

    Peter Wright
Former Scotland prop on BBC Radio Scotland

I think if it's 3-3, 6-6 or 9-9 with 20 minutes to go, each team should be forced to take a player off every five minutes so that we find some space. The players are massive and there is so little space to exploit.

  2. Edinburgh cough it uppublished at 20:44 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Ospreys 3-3 Edinburgh

John Lacey takes a lenient view of Justin Tipuric creeping up offside round the fringes of the ruck. He's given Ospreys a penalty for holding on in the shadow of their own posts.

A pretty debatable call, but Edinburgh should have protected their ball much better.

  3. Pyrgos conducting Edinburgh's orchestrapublished at 20:42 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Ospreys 3-3 Edinburgh

Henry Pyrgos showing a few glimpses of his game-management savvy. A couple of snipes and spins, some neat passing, and a probing wee grubber kick that earns Edinburgh a line-out in the Ospreys 22.

  4. First Edinburgh changepublished at 20:41 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Ospreys 3-3 Edinburgh

Murray McCallum is on for Simon Berghan in the Edinburgh pack.

  5. More attack, more errorspublished at 20:39 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Ospreys 3-3 Edinburgh

Owen Watkin grimaces as his chip-kick in behind the Edinburgh defence slices wildly off his right boot and out of play on the full.

I'm not sure why he chose to kick that. Ospreys were in good possession there and putting the Edinburgh defence under some decent pressure.

Now it's Ospreys who come tumbling forward with George North and Justin Tipuric at the forefront.

  7. Postpublished at 20:36 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Ospreys 3-3 Edinburgh

The second half begins as the first ended...some half-decent Edinburgh phase-play, followed by a knock-on.

  8. And we're back under waypublished at 20:35 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Ospreys 3-3 Edinburgh

Blair Kinghorn gets the second half going. Let's hope for some more entertaining rugby....

  9. 'Defence on top'published at 20:35 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    HT: Ospreys 3-3 Edinburgh

    Peter Wright
Former Scotland prop on BBC Radio Scotland

Defensively it's been outstanding. To hold Ospreys to three points at home is a great defensive display. The set-piece has been a mixed bag - the scrum's under pressure and the line-out's going well. But both attacks are awful.

  10. Teams re-emergepublished at 20:34 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    HT: Ospreys 3-3 Edinburgh

    We're ready to go again...

  11. Some half-time stats...published at 20:32 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    HT: Ospreys 3-3 Edinburgh

Edinburgh full-back Blair Kinghorn has beaten the most defenders so far, leaving three in his wake, and made the most ground with ball in hand (53m).

In defence, Ospreys hooker Scott Otten has posted the most tackles (10), with colleagues Dan Lydiate, James King and Owen Watkin close behind (nine).

  12. 'No lack of endeavour'published at 20:31 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    HT: Ospreys 3-3 Edinburgh

    Colin Gregor
Former Scotland sevens captain on Radio Scotland

It can be the case with the first game of the season that there's no lack of endeavour or hard work but it's just the accuracy is lacking. From an Edinburgh point of view they need to make the Ospreys make mistakes in their half and build some pressure that way.

  13. Few shots fired after dull first halfpublished at 20:26 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    HT: Ospreys 3-3 Edinburgh

So, penalties from Simon Hickey and Luke Price have tied the scores at the break.

Edinburgh withstood a lot of early pressure and Ospreys came closest to scoring when Dan Evans was just beaten to a Scott Williams chip by Henry Pyrgos, then George North was hauled into touch at the corner flag.

Richard Cockerill's men grew into the half, but haven't really troubled the home defence.

  14. 'Dire stuff' in the first halfpublished at 20:24 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    HT: Ospreys 3-3 Edinburgh

    Peter Wright
Former Scotland prop on BBC Radio Scotland

For the opening game of the season it's pretty dire stuff. It actually looks like a pre-season game. It's one of those where nobody wants to do much or get injured.

Not convinced this has been a bit of a drag?

  16. 'A mistake-ridden grind'published at 20:23 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    HT: Ospreys 3-3 Edinburgh

    Tom English
    BBC Scotland's chief sports writer

Awful first half. Nothing in the way of attacking rugby. It’s a mistake-ridden grind. The second half can’t be any worse.

I'll leave it to our chief sports writer to sum up that opening 40 minutes of Pro14 action...

  19. Postpublished at 20:22 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

    Ospreys 3-3 Edinburgh

It's a long way out, around 50m, and Davies' left-foot strike falls just wide of target with the final act of the half.

  20. Postpublished at 20:21 British Summer Time 31 August 2018

We're into the final minute of the half and Ospreys have a penalty which replacement Sam Davies is going to kick for goal
