    FT: Exeter 40-6 Leicester

Exeter flanker Matt Kvesic told BT Sport:

"We've been focusing on ourselves all through pre-season. We've had a good few warm-up games and we looked pretty sharp in them.

"We were going into today confident, obviously Leicester are a very good side and a strong team but I think that we fronted up physically and controlled the game well. I think that we deserved the result in the end."

    Ian Whitten

Exeter gain the turnover on the left-hand side of the park and they swing it right with ease.

Henry Slade then breaks forwards and slips a sumptuous offload to his midfield partner Ian Whitten.

That's the Chiefs in full flow, that's the Chiefs that we know and the conversion brings about 40 points and the full-time whistle.

    Matt Kvesic

Matt Kvesic marks an outstanding performance, a man of the match performance, with a five-pointer.

He carries it over from close-range after the Chiefs capitalised down the left-hand side through Phil Dollman. The conversion attempt misses the mark.

  8. Postpublished at 74 mins

    Exeter 28-6 Leicester

It's a let off for Leicester as the Chiefs make a mess of their line-out.

Sam Harrison's clearance is almost a carbon copy of his previous one and we're back where we were!

    Exeter 28-6 Leicester

Leicester are still struggling to find any form of fluency or field position.

Sam Harrison tries to find touch and exit their half but the assistant referee has called his box-kick onto the 22-metre line.

The Tigers give away a penalty for collapsing the maul and you expect that the home side will go to the corner.

A few more changes to tell you about on both sides.

Sean Lonsdale and Joe Simmonds arrive to take the places of Sam Simmonds and Olly Woodburn respectively.

Meanwhile for the Tigers, Kyle Eastmond and Sam Harrison replace Matt Toomua and Ben Youngs. Mike Williams is also on for Mike Fitzgerald.

    Henry Slade

That's the bonus-point for the Chiefs.

Moments earlier Leicester did enjoy a break forwards but, not for the first time, were penalised at the breakdown.

At the other end of the park, Sam Skinner slices through on a sublime line. He spotted a gap with his name on it and under pressure got the offload away to Henry Slade.

    Luke Cowan-Dickie

The Chiefs put the ball deep into the corner and they work from there. The quick-ball off the top finds Ian Whitten and his hit up the middle is a solid one.

Once the centre has made the hard yards, his forwards keep it tight and drive for the line.

Gareth Steenson adds the conversion and duly plumps their cushion.

    Exeter 14-6 Leicester

Disjointed would also be the word to describe Leicester's work here at Sandy Park.

A knock-on brings about a Chiefs scrum but the visiting pack decide that they want to make and statement and they do so by earning a penalty from it.

'That's a big play,' says George Ford to his forwards after but the Tigers lose the line-out that they just worked so hard to earn.

The Chiefs are continuing to have a crack and up the tempo in their backs but Gareth Steenson's floated pass to Olly Woodburn evades the winger's clutches.

These errors are uncharacteristic from the Chiefs but, of course, we have to remember that this is day one of a new season.

Cowan-Dickie made the Premiership dream team and he'll be eager to get the new season up and running.

    Exeter 14-6 Leicester

It's a little bit untidy right now before Sam Simmonds shows his class with a clean break.

Simmonds' step around Dan Cole sparks a real surge of momentum and the home side hurtle towards the line.

With OIly Woodburn screaming for the ball on the opposite wing, the Tigers win a crucial penalty at the breakdown and have it advanced ten for a spot of chat.

  18. Postpublished at 44 mins

    Exeter 14-6 Leicester

Leicester have started with a little more promise and a George Ford dink forwards almost finds Jonny May but his fellow international can't control it.

Off the ensuing scrum the home side win a penalty and Gareth Steenson delivers a lengthy clearance.
