  4. try

Try: Worcester 20-18 Waspspublished at 16:26 British Summer Time 1 September 2018

    Tommy Taylor

What a game?! Wasps got a penalty just inside the 22 that Dan Robson tapped and scooted away with as Worcester back-pedalled frantically.

It looked like the half-back was going to be smuggled into touch but worked a wonderball to supporting hooker Tommy Taylor, who dived in for the score.

Big moment, conversion missed. Wasps two behind the Warriors now.

  5. Five new faces for Tigerspublished at 16:24 British Summer Time 1 September 2018

    Exeter v Leicester (16:30 BST)

Alongside their familiar names, Matt O'Connor has handed debuts to five of his new arrivals.

Will Spencer and David Denton start in the forward pack, while props David Feao and Gaston Cortes, and sparky centre Kyle Eastmond are amongst the replacements.

Also, keep an eye out for Jordan Olowofela coming off the bench. The 20-year-old winger was named in Eddie Jones' recent pre-season training squad and had an outstanding tournament at the World Rugby U20 Championship in June.

Rob Baxter's outfit will start their new campaign under the stewardship of club captain Jack Yeandle.

The team are missing new signing Alex Cuthbert, England's Jack Nowell and Mitch Lees. The trio are all recovering from surgeries in the summer but a potent XV and bench remains.

Try: Worcester 20-13 Waspspublished at 16:22 British Summer Time 1 September 2018

    Sam Lewis, con Duncan Weir

Do they have the energy? Boy do they! Sam Lewis slices like the proverbial knife through butter into the Wasps back-line and scores - although we have to wait a while for the TMO to adjudge that he had control as he stretched out to touch down.

Duncan Weir wasted no time in kicking the goal. Seven-point lead for the Warriors once again.

    Exeter v Leicester (16:30 BST)

Before we dive into the team line-ups, and the players that will be running out for these fans' sides, let's look at a few and records.

Interestingly, Exeter's only victory in Round 1 in the last five seasons was 52-0 at London Welsh in 2014, however this is the first time that The Chiefs have started the season with a home fixture at Sandy Park since 2012.

Focusing on today's visitors - Leicester Tigers opening weekend defeat at home to Bath twelve months ago ended a run of five successive Round 1 victories.

The Chiefs have won four of their last six contests with Tigers in Premiership Rugby, whilst Leicester’s most recent triumph at Sandy Park was in 2014.

There is an adage that says it is easier to climb to the top of the tree than it is to actually remain there.

It is one that Exeter Chiefs might acknowledge after last season's heartbreaking Premiership final defeat by Saracens.

The former champions might have lost their grip on the crown. but as Jack Yeandle says, they won't allow their 2016-17 success to be a flash in the pan.

"It put so many things in perspective and really makes you appreciate how special times are," said Leicester and England scrum-half told Ben Youngs.

"Tiff's gone through the mill but Tom's been there every step of the way. When she had long periods in hospital, he's been a full-time rugby player, a full-time dad and a husband. He's a new man - I just hope this is a bad memory, and we can all enjoy what's hopefully going to be an amazing future.

"Rugby has been a distraction. You can kind of escape it for 80 minutes, but then the game's finished and it's back to reality. We're blessed with having such an amazing support from team-mates and coaching staff at Leicester. They've been unbelievable in terms of helping the family."
