The rain only came half an hour before kick-off. It means more ball is going to be driven from set-play and that kicking will be the primary option.

Scotland lead Fiji at Murrayfield thanks to tries from Allan Dell, Fraser Brown and Tommy Seymour on the brink of the half-time whistle.

Fiji have run in two tries but have also had two players sent to the sin-bin.

Careful England. This helter-skelter style of play is where New Zealand are at their best.

    England 8-0 New Zealand

Sam Underhill is showing up well in these early stages, rolling up his sleeves and getting into the guts of the breakdown to slow up New Zealand's ball.

The visitors have not had the chance to build a series of phases yet.

  6. Postpublished at 13 mins

    England 8-0 New Zealand

Sublime skills from Damian McKenzie. The New Zealand full-back sends Chris Ashton, Owen Farrell and Mark Wilson skidding out of shot with series of staccato sidesteps. Superb stuff before he is nabbed by Brad Shields.

He is wearing ballet shoes despite the welly-boot weather.

    Tom Fordyce
BBC chief sports writer at Twickenham

As fervent an atmosphere at Twickenham as there has been since the epic try-fest v France in March 2015 - the biblical rain, wild-eyed haka and sensational England start combining to set alight the old concrete bowl.

    England 8-0 New Zealand

It is hard to type but New Zealand have been...poor so far. No other way to describe it.

Sonny Bill Williams gets them so go-forward with a deft offload but Ardie Savea is stripped of possession in contact.

Sloppy from the visitors and England need to make hay.

Great kick from Owen Farrell. That is vintage England from 2002 where you get a chance and you take it.

  10. Drop-goal - England 8-0 New Zealandpublished at 9 mins

    Owen Farrell

New Zealand hooker Codie Taylor's wonky line-out dart eludes Sam Whitelock at the back and is nabbed by England for some smart turnover ball.

Owen Farrell decides to cash in the chips, swatting over a snap drop-goal.

Eight points to the good after less than 10 minutes. Dream start. Now to build on it...

Referee Jerome Garces decides that Kyle Sinckler has infringed in the scrum.

Penalty New Zealand and they clear back over their own 22m...

    England 5-0 New Zealnad

    Brian Moore

What's been good about England so far, when the ball is slowed down they've still managed to recreate some momentum through the power of their runners. That's very intelligent play from Jonny May.

  14. Postpublished at 6 mins

    England 5-0 New Zealand

Damian McKenzie carries the ball back over his line with Jonny May snapping at his heels. England have started like they haven't seen meat in a week. Ravenous and rabid.

Scrum white, five out from the New Zealand line.

    This is a big chance...

    England 5-0 New Zealand

Kieran Read wore a wry smile as he talked under the posts to his team in the wake of Chris Ashton's try.

His side looked sluggish in those opening exchanges. That defensive oversight was very uncharacteristic.

And England make gains off kick-off with Sam Underhill thumping Damian McKenzie into touch off a pinpont bomb.

  16. 'You couldn't get a better start'published at 15:11 Greenwich Mean Time 10 November 2018

    England 5-0 New Zealand

    Brian Moore

Who writes Chris Ashton's scripts? Good work by England, the All Blacks didn't count on the outside being outflanked. It was great insight to see that Ashton was free. You couldn't get a better start for England.

Try - England 5-0 New Zealandpublished at 2 mins

    Chris Ashton

    TRY! The Splash is back!

What a start from England and what vision from Ben Youngs who spots that New Zealand are short-staffed in defence on the blind side.

The scrum-half slings a long looping mis-pass into the hands of Chris Ashton and he knows his way home from there.

The Sale man slides into the corner through Damian McKenzie's tackle.

Owen Farrell's conversion attempt hits the upright and bounces...out.

    England 0-0 New Zealand

Referee Jerome Garces - the man who sent off Sonny Bill Williams against the Lions in 2017 - is on the whistle.

He gives Owen Farrell the nod and the England fly-half sends his drop-out towards the 22m where Brodie Retallick spills!

England recover the ball through Jonny May!

Knock-ons by both though and we will scrum down white on the New Zealand 22m.

England v New Zealand (15:00 GMT)

TJ Perenara calls the haka for New Zealand, Kieran Read is at the front of the arrowhead, slapping biceps and snorting flames.

England line up and face the music.

The England crowd make their own music though, drowning out the All Black bellowing with chorus after chorus of Swing Low.

That will peeve some of the visitors. Not sure you'll like them when they are angry...
