The one thing about the French is when they're on a high they're a difficult team. But if you get them doubting themselves then they start arguing, they start to lose confidence. And that's what you want them to do.

It’s only a one-score game and it’s about how Scotland start the second half. It’s going to be interesting to see how the crowd react to France later on, and I think Scotland’s bench is better than the French. It is all for Scotland to play for.

A lot of the errors that Scotland are making are making life a bit easier for France and that's the frustrating thing. It's almost just watching the second half of the Irish game again. Can we play as bad in the second half as we did in the first? There's some good quick ball but it's still slow because France are very, very good at slowing at down.

saidmadrid: after a shambolic start, Scotland have started to play with a bit more sense. They are lacking strength in defence, more muscle and grit in contact areas where the physicality of the French are doing some damage.

The Scotland players need to put a real sense of worry and deja vu in to these French minds again. That will only come when Scotland look after the ball more and are more clinical.

  9. Rampaging Romainpublished at 15:15 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2019

    HT: France 10-3 Scotland

Here's a stat for you - Romain Ntamack, the French fly-half and try-scorer, has made 15 tackles in the first half! That's a very decent return for a pivot and suggests Scotland are trying to target the 19-year-old.

Ntamack hasn't missed a shot yet, though, and has looked really slick in attack.

What I like about France is they look more organised defensively. Even on the Scottish kicks we are organised, and when we get the ball on turnovers we look dangerous. It’s been a long time since that happened.

  11. Scotland are 'playing with fire'published at 15:10 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2019

    HT: France 10 - 3 Scotland

Scotland are playing with fire now because they're not able to look after their own ball and are missing line-outs.They played 10 minutes of that first half against 14 men and they had two really good opportunities and they blew both of them. You can't do that, you just cannot do that against 14 men.

It has not been perfect but nothing ever is. We are getting into the right areas but we are not executing our phases of play. We are still in the game and it's going to be a big second half for us.

  14. Half-time France 10-3 Scotlandpublished at 15:03 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2019

Scotland tried one last foray with time up, but, typically of their first-half display, they pass the ball into touch.

It's been a tough old 40 minutes for the visitors, who are having to work extremely hard to keep the ball and punch through the massive French side.

France have looked deadly on the break and powerful in attack. They've had two tries disallowed - the second a stunner from Gael Fickou - with Romain Ntamack's sumptuous score separating the teams.

Given the way that half has gone, Scotland won't be too dismayed with a seven-point deficit...

The clock is almost red as the packs come together...

  16. Huget returnspublished at 39 mins

    France 10-3 Scotland

Yoann Huget is back. France have conceded no points in his absence and in fact had a try of their own disallowed.

  17. Cigars at the readypublished at 38 mins

    France 10-3 Scotland

    Andy Burke
BBC Sport Scotland at Stade de France

There is an elderly gent, presumably a veteran French reporter, puffing on a cigar just beside us in the media gantry. Nobody seems too bothered.

And he is enjoying what he’s seeing, as are most of the home crowd. Every big hit - and there have been plenty - is greeted with a huge “OOOOOHHH” and it’s bedlam in the stands when France break through.

If Les Bleus score the next try we might see a few more cigars being lit up.

  18. Scottish line-out woes continuepublished at 37 mins

    France 10-3 Scotland

Scotland set up a fake maul of sorts in midfield and Lauret strays offside in racing up to shut it down.

It's a Scottish penalty but once again, their line-out misfires.

Gael Fickou fires the ball way back into away territory and Huget's sin-bin period is almost up.

  19. Scotland 'their own worst enemies'published at 35 mins

  20. Ramos can't stretch French leadpublished at 33 mins

    France 10-3 Scotland

From the resultant scrum, France win a penalty, but Thomas Ramos can't bisect the posts.

Scotland still just a converted try behind.
