  1. Running repairs neededpublished at 23 mins

    Ireland 12-3 Scotland

Bundee Aki has gone off to get a cut on his cheek patched up. The powerhouse centre came galloping out of the line to clatter Finn Russell in that last attacking phase. The Scotland fly-half bounced up and carried on - Aki copped a sore one.

Josh van der Flier is also off to have a blood injury taken care of. Jack Conan comes on.

And, slightly worryingly for the Irish fans, Johnny Sexton was receiving a little treatment while Laidlaw slotted that penalty.

  2. Penalty Ireland 12-3 Scotlandpublished at 09:11 British Summer Time 22 September 2019

    Greig Laidlaw

Over she goes. Scotland, at last, have something.

  3. Postpublished at 22 mins

    Ireland 12-0 Scotland

Finally, Scotland get some attacking ball in Irish territory. Stuart Hogg releases Tommy Seymour up the right touchline, and the wing bursts into the 22.

Jonny Gray and WP Nel take it on a bit further before Ireland enter the ruck from the side. Greig Laidlaw will line up the penalty shot to get his team on the board.

There are sections of green jerseys all over the stadium and the Irish fans are in fine voice now as their side take a firm grip on this match.

It’s hard to pick out the Scotland jerseys in the stands and those wearing them on the pitch are coming off second best so far.

Twelve points down against a team like Ireland represents a huge test of their mettle.

It's clinical from Ireland. Scotland already teetering like a Jenga tower. It just shows if you are careless with the ball, you're up against it. Two possessions inside Scotland's 22 and two scores.

I felt Ireland should have taken the points from the penalty but it was Rory Best's call to go for the corner and he was totally vindicated by his own try.

  7. Gregor looking grumpypublished at 19 mins

    Ireland 12-0 Scotland

The television pictures have just cut to the Scotland coaches box, where Gregor Townsend's face is a picture of frustration. I wonder what Townsend might have up his sleeve to deal with the Irish onslaught. His team haven't had a sniff so far.

    Ireland 12-0 Scotland

That's an 11th try for 37-year-old Best in his 121st Ireland cap.

Try Ireland 12-0 Scotlandpublished at 15 mins

    Rory Best

Ruthless. Absolutely ruthless. Two visits to the Scottish 22; two tries on the scoreboard.

This one was all about power and set-piece efficiency. They got the shunt on the Scottish maul defence, surged up the touchline, and captain Rory Best did brilliantly to contort his body and ground the ball.

Sexton's conversion fades just wide from the left flank.

  10. Ireland flex their muscles againpublished at 15 mins

    Ireland 7-0 Scotland

Ireland put the penalty to the corner, but Hamish Watson stifles their attacking momentum.

There's an earlier infringement by Ryan Wilson, though, and back we come for another penalty. The Scotland vice-captain rumbled into a maul from the side.

This one is deep in the Scottish 22 and very kickable. Ireland aren't kicking it, though. Into the corner it goes. They reckon they've got Scotland on the ropes.

  11. 'Kicking not good so far'published at 14 mins

    Ireland 7-0 Scotland

    Tony Ward
Former Ireland fly-half on BBC Radio Ulster

    Quote Message

The kicking hasn't been good so far. Finn Russell made a poor one at the start. Johnny Sexton then had one charged down and Stuart Hogg then gave the Irish a let-off with a bad one.

  12. Postpublished at 13 mins

    Ireland 7-0 Scotland

Ireland get one-up at the breakdown too with a smart bit of jackaling.

The turned-over ball finds Jordan Larmour who has incredible pace, but stumbles as he approaches Stuart Hogg. Sexton's kick is marked inside the 22, Sean Maitland boots it away and Sexton returns the compliment.

Ireland win another turnover, this time Bundee Aki jackaling and earning his side a penalty. Ireland are winning all the small battles just now.

Scotland, when they get into the play, will be dangerous. But they just can't give Ireland the soft opportunities like they did for the try after just six minutes. When Ireland are that close to the line, they are so clinical.

  14. Postpublished at 9 mins

    Ireland 7-0 Scotland

Stuart Hogg is kicking a lot in these opening minutes. This one, from around halfway, bounces a couple of yards too far and is dotted down for a 22m drop-out.

Meanwhile, Peter O'Mahony is down receiving some treatment.

  15. converted try

Converted try Ireland 7-0 Scotlandpublished at 7 mins

    James Ryan

Inexorable. First blood to Ireland from their first attack. What a start.

Conor Murray's chip made the opportunity, before Henderson smashed past a couple of tacklers and rampaged to within a few metres of the post.

Ireland keep it tight, Jordan Larmour gets held up just short, but a few phases later James Ryan burrows his way to the whitewash.

Johnny Sexton adds the extras. A disastrous opening for Scotland, notoriously slow starters under Gregor Townsend.

Lovely stuff from Ireland off that line-out as Rory Best releases Murray, whose chip kick is gathered by the retreating Jonny Gray of all people.

Ireland recover possession and Iain Henderson thunders deep into the Scottish 22. This looks promising for the Irish...

Conor Murray is coming in for a little bit of treatment from the Scottish forwards, following through on the Ireland scum-half.

  18. Frenetic startpublished at 3 mins

    Ireland 0-0 Scotland

What a harem-scarem opening few minutes. Scotland over-throw the first line-out, Johnny Sexton gets charged down, then Ireland knock it on.

Stuart Hogg threatens on the counter and then probes a lovely kick into the Irish 22. Ireland get the line-out working and clear up to halfway, and now Scotland come again, but Duncan Taylor's pass is too far ahead of Sean Maitland and Ireland will throw in just inside the Scottish half.

  19. Kick-offpublished at 08:47 British Summer Time 22 September 2019
