  1. Can Ireland walk the walk?published at 08:10 British Summer Time 22 September 2019

At Thursday's team announcement, Joe Schmidt was asked what worried him about Scotland.

"Do you want the full list?" he replied.

Schmidt will have watched a ludicrous amount of Scottish rugby footage in the build-up to this game.

With Rob Kearney and Keith Earls out, will Scotland be more tempted to test the aerial prowess of Jordan Larmour, Andrew Conway and Jacob Stockdale?

How do you gets to grips with Stuart Hogg? And what about Finn Russell?

Schimdt will have made plans, and then plans for those plans - but the best laid plans, and all that.

Missing three experienced backline campaigners is no excuse - after what New Zealand and South Africa dished up last night, Ireland have to walk the walk today if they are serious about going deep in this competition.

  2. Ireland's missing menpublished at 08:08 British Summer Time 22 September 2019

    Ireland v Scotland (08:45)

Joe Schmidt is without three pivotal backs. Robbie Henshaw, Rob Kearney and Keith Earls have all been struck by injury in the lead-up to this whopper of a game.

All three are British and Irish Lions and Grand Slam winners with a combined total of 211 Tests. Earls alone has scored 30 international tries.

    These are big, big losses.

It's not like their replacements are bad - but there's no doubting Ireland are a little diminished without their missing trio.

    It's finally here.

If you're an Ireland or Scotland fan, this must feel a bit like waking up on Christmas morning - only until about 10:30, you can't be sure if Santa's lavished you with gifts or there's merely a fat lump of coal in the living room.

For the past four years, it's all been building to this monumental Pool A showdown in Yokohama. The victor today will cement themselves as strong favourites to top the group and in all likelihood avoid a quarter-final clash with the mighty All Blacks.

We've got live commentary from our BBC Scotland and BBC Northern Ireland teams in Japan, and bucketloads of insight from our pundits. You too can get involved on social media via the #bbcrugby hashtag.

Get the kettle on, get comfortable, and - if you can - sit back and relax. This should be seismic.
