Full-field coverage from England. They are moving the ball from one side to the other, creating space. England are opening Argentina up at will.

Billy Vunipola looks like he's getting some treatment on his ankle.

England have not got a number eight on the bench.

But he hops up and is ready to play again, with added strapping around his left boot.

A worrying, and worryingly familiar, sight for England as Billy Vunipola sits on the turf and the physios scurry on with work to do on the number eight.

The scoreboard is of no consequence at the moment. What you're taking off the opposition now is going to count late in the game. Make them tire.

    England 5-3 Argentina

England keep the ball and build the phases, running the legs off the 14 men of Argentina.

But respite for the Pumas as they scrap a turnover on the ground and Benjamin Urdapilleta finds touch.

  6. Vunipola on the chargepublished at 28 mins

    England 5-3 Argentina

England playing with a bit of width now. Billy Vunipola is lurking on the right wing. But the number eight is chopped down by opposite number Javier Ortega Desio.

A bit of an aimless boot from Benjamin Urdapilleta. The Argentina fly-half punts straight into the arms of Elliot Daly, who calls the mark like he is summoning the maitre d at a plush hotel.

No pressure on him and that is an easy out from their own 22m for England.

  8. 'England should run them ragged'published at 09:37 British Summer Time 5 October 2019

    England 5-3 Argentina

This is where it counts. Can England keep the pace up against 14 men, they should be running them ragged and then come 60/65 minutes it's fill your boots time.

Emiliano Boffelli lands a superb kick down towards the England 22m. One bounce and into touch. Anthony Watson couldn't cover it.

The game has lost a bit of intensity and rhythm since that red card for Argentina second row Tomas Lavanini for a high hit on Owen Farrell.

A lot of talk of red cards for high tackles making the game safer, which is exactly right. But will surely have a knock on effect of there being less tackles and more running rugby, so more entertainment.

    Ben, Norwich

Red card all day but if player safety is paramount, I'm concerned that Owen Farrell hasn't gone off for a HIA? Interested to know who makes the decision as it doesn't seem right?

Remember Sonny Bill Williams' shoulder to Anthony Watson's head in the second Lions Test back in 2017?

Remember the reaction of the public and the media? Even some of Jerome Garces' officiating team seemed to be hinting to him that they did not think it was a red card.

If that happened now, it was a stone-cold red card and all condemnation, no discussion.

The game has changed. And surely for the better...

Manu Tuilagi got his timing a fraction wrong. It was a legitimate challenge, just fractionally too early. Again the referee is absolutely right.

Half a stadium of Argentines are making it very clear to Nigel Owens how they feel about that Tuilagi tackle.

This has been a very eventful first 20 minutes.

    England 5-3 Argentina

Now the Argentina fans are whistling for a decision for Nigel Owens.

Manu Tuilagi has taken out Argentina full-back Emiliano Boffelli.

Owens rules that it was "a timing issue" rather than anything more malicious. Pumas skipper Pablo Matera does not looked convinced as the official explains his reasoning for awarding a penalty but no card.

I'm all for it. You have to sanction if you want to change behaviour. 100% correct by the referee.

Gareth: Don’t see how that was even a discussion, red all day long, poor Owens head was nearly ripped from his shoulders!

Elliot Leaver: You do feel for Lavanini, but the law is the the law. Hopefully England can push on and make the extra man count.

Owen Farrell screws his kick off to the right. No problem with distance, but the a fair bit of fade on that.

    England 5-3 Argentina

Argentina have more than an hour to play with 14 men. They are right up against it now.

And Owen Farrell has dusted himself down to take a kick at goal that would stretch England's lead to five...

  20. 'Lavanini out of control'published at 09:26 British Summer Time 5 October 2019

    England 5-3 Argentina

    Paul Grayson
Former England fly-half on BBC Radio 5 Live

Tomas Lavanini looked out of control, Owen Farrell had decided he was going for a run and accelerated into the gap. Lavanini piles into him and hits him square in the side of the head - the protocols outline that what's happened in the World Cup so far he's in big trouble.

Nigel Owens might have delivered his message with a tone of empathy, but there is no room for sympathy - that is everything that is wrong in the game, a big man out of control. Absolutely right to send him off, that's the end of his World Cup and probably Argentina's too.
