    England 5-3 Argentina

On second look, it was a shocker.

Tomas Lavanini has landed a shoulder right on the jaw of Owen Farrell. Farrell was pretty upright into contact and Lavanini went in very hard.

High degree of danger and Nigel Owens dispatches the second row.

Lavanini looks on the brink of tears as he heads to the bath.

Is Nigel Owens the coolest person in the stadium? Guys head and shoulders above him shut up and listen. Ref's handling best so far.

A huge pile-on between the two packs as England win a scrum turnover and a penalty. Ben Youngs taps and goes and is flattened by a late tackle by Pumas skipper and former Leicester Tiger Pablo Matera.

England fly in to defend their scrum-half, Tom Curry is chief bodyguard, grabbing lapels and spitting invective.

Just a penalty, but Matera is warned that it was close to yellow.

It has been a really good start. Eddie Jones said tuck into them early, they're very focused on where they want to play - the kicking strategy and then the power of that forward pack destroyed Argentina.

Fun and games at scrum time. Nigel Owens tells the sides to "stop being so cocky and start scrumming".

Perfect. England got themselves into that position, the drive almost got there and Argentina had to infringe to keep them out, but it opened a 20-metre blindside to the left - a perfectly timed pass from George Ford for Jonny May to stroll over.

Try - England 5-3 Argentinapublished at 7 mins

      Jonny May

      Clinical from England.

The Saracens connection clicks as George Kruis tells Jamie George to pick out Maro Itoje at the line-out.

On comes the shove, crabbing infield.

The backs want it. George Ford jags back blind where gas-merchant Jonny May flash-fries Benjamin Urdapilleta. The Pumas fly-half barely laid a finger on the wing.

Owen Farrell misses the tight conversion shot.

Kyle Sinckler is lucky, a no-arms tackle diving in at the knees of the Argentinian. Everyone was low, so there was nothing too sinister in it.

Only three points conceded, not too much damage done.

A gimmes of a penalty and the first blood goes to Argentina. They have started very well. England probably thankful to be just three points adrift...

Nigel Owens reads a long rap sheet to Owen Farrell as we come back for the penalty.

There were a couple of offsides and a no-arms tackle from Kyle Sinckler on there.

"Do you want to speak to your players?" Owens asks Owen.

Yes, you do Owen. Farrell realises that is the wise option.

Argentina are going to take the points.

      Brilliant from Argentina!

Billy Vunipola coughs up the pill and the Pumas pounce. Benjamin Urdapilleta picks out wing Matias Moroni with a precise cross-field punt.

The wing grubbers forward and only a frantic dash from Johnny May diffuses the danger.

England have a five-metre scrum to defend though after May carried over his own line to dot down.
